+stopaskignmeforrealname DoTT Remastered has made all the faults in the Special Editions seem really conspicuous.
Problem is, DoTT Remastered clearly has a lot of love and effort put into its production, but the budget is clearly much lower, the redrawn art doesn't add any new details or do anything inventive with the style, and the music is entirely synthesized, exactly like the original.
It's frustratating that we only seem to have two options;
1) A high-budget, fully orchestrated re-imagining of the game...done by a massive corporation who don't really care about anything beyond making a few bucks off nostalgic fans.
2) A low-budget, synthesized clone of the original game with the artwork essentially just traced over in higher resolution, handled by an indie developer with a lot of love for the game and its fans...but evidently, not even enough cash to cough up for the original iconic sound effects.
It'd be nice if we could just have some middle ground, that adds a bit more detail to the game without completely distorting the atmosphere of the original.

I was making a wooden chest for my bedroom so I could store all my junk in it. Then I remembered this and played it in loop while I was working, sawing and sanding the wood, varnishing the planks... Hell, I had a lot of fun, I was grinning during the entire process.
This game's ost is GREAT. Pure gold.
