The group was formed in 1988 by singer, songwriter, and keyboard player Jascha Richter (b. 1963) alongside drummer Kare Wanscher (b. 1969), guitarist and producer Mikkel Lentz (b. 1968), and Soren Madsen (b. 1967) in Aarhus, Denmark. The group now consists of three members, with the rest parting ways with Madsen. The group started as a little cafe band, but they soon won the annual talent contest in Aarhus in July 1988. MLTR signed with one of the judges, JP Andersen, as their new manager, and the group got a recording deal with Medley Records, who later became a part of EMI.
MLTR's eponymous first album hit the top 5 of the album charts in both Denmark and Norway, selling tens of thousands of copies over and over again. Since that international debut in September 1991, with 'Michael Learns To Rock' being a sensation, the group has sold more than 12 million legal albums, and it has been performing ever since. Their song catalog continues to be very popular as well, with many singles sold online. Since 'Michael Learns To Rock' came out, they have released 'Colours' (1993), 'Played on Pepper' (1995), 'Nothing to Lose' (1997), 'Michael Learns to Rock - Greatest Hits' (1999), 'Blue Night' (2000), 'Take Me to Your Heart' / 'Michael Learns to Rock' (2004), 'The Best Of Michael Learns To Rock – Live' (2007), and 'Eternity' (2008).
MLTR is one of the most popular bands in their homeland. Thanks to social media such as YouTube and Facebook, MLTR's fan-base continues to grow worldwide. They're unusual for a European group in that they have strong popularity both in Asia (particularly China and India) as well as several Anglo-American nations.

Paint My Love
Michael Learns to Rock Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Till this moment here
I've never seen
Such a lovely queen
From the skies above
To the deepest love
I've never felt
Paint my love
You should paint my love
It's the picture of a thousand sunsets
It's the freedom of a thousand doves
Baby, you should paint my love
Been around the world
Then I met you, girl
It's like coming home
To a place I've known
Paint my love
You should paint my love
It's the picture of a thousand sunsets
It's the freedom of a thousand doves
Baby, you should paint my love
Since you came into my life
The days before all fade to black and white
Since you came into my life
Everything has changed
Paint my love
You should paint my love
It's the picture of a thousand sunsets
It's the freedom of a thousand doves
Baby, you should paint my love
Paint my love
You should paint my love
It's the picture of a thousand sunsets
It's the freedom of a thousand doves
Baby, you should paint my love
The song "Paint My Love" by Michael Learns to Rock is all about the feeling of falling in love and the desire to immortalize that love. The lyrics begin by describing how the singer has never seen anyone as lovely as his beloved queen, and how he has never felt as crazy in love as he does with her. He urges her to "paint his love," to capture the essence of their relationship in a beautiful picture, a "picture of a thousand sunsets."
The second verse continues the theme of the singer traveling the world, but now that he's met this girl, it's like he's come home to a place he's always known. The chorus repeats the plea for the girl to paint his love, emphasizing the freedom and beauty that love brings.
The bridge emphasizes the transformative power of love, describing how everything has changed since this girl came into the singer's life. The song ends with one final call to paint the love, as if to say that this love is something that should be captured and cherished forever.
Overall, the song is a beautiful and romantic expression of the joy and wonder of falling in love.
