Have watched this more than a few times, best part is the pile of bones next to the delicate icicles...love it!

At the moment we do not have a website to sell on… ☹️ so we are just selling out of the house! I will be making a ‘late’ batch next week when I get more oxygen…. THANK YOU for this video! 👏 I have been trying to figure out how to work this glass for 3 years. I kept trying to blow it out which ruins the scallop lining. One thing that doesn’t come across in the video is to actually work this glass in a kind of cool flame for boro. Inner flame only on these Hellcat torches. Your technique is perfect for anyone with a smaller torch (MiniCC, Nortel Minor, Inner flame of Hellcat.) Ran out of the tubing I had left, need to go order more! ❤‍🔥🔥😁

Hello Linda! I am so glad you saw this video!🤗 It makes me happy to know this scallop tubing technique is useful. I mostly just work with 104 glass…so my apologies for not mentioning the flame settings! 😵‍💫

Gloria, when I first tried Boro I was fascinated by its special properties. It is definitely worth a try. Some people find it easier!

they are so beautiful. i take it that they are annealed. i'm wondoring if the tubing comes in smaller diameter. my torch won't work on tubing that big. i don't know how i missed this at christmas but glad i stumbled on it.

Hello Enrico! I’m glad you found this one too. 😃 (These are not always annealed, and I have never had an issue with it). And yes!…They do have smaller sizes! It’s fun play around with the tubing….so different from solid rod!

It’s under Simax tubing. It takes some practice, but so much fun to play with!!

Thanks for the great video. What is the outside diameter of the scolloped rods you are using. I see three different outside diameters with 1 mm wall? Thanks

Hi Bob! The OD for this tubing is 22 mm. I have also used the 26mm as well but it takes longer to heat and is a bit heavier.
Each has about 1 mm wall. FD Glass has a wide range of tubing and the prices are pretty decent even with shipping. Fdglass.com

Hi Robin, what sort of torch are you using for your boro? Looks like a carlisle.?dont think 4' long tubes would make it here in one piece, maybe can try shorter, smaller diameter? AND, where do you sell your work? OMG, love these! (dont think I can make it over for the holiday sales..lol!)..maybe the place they came from, has shorter ones? hmm....thanks again for sharing your love of torch work!

Hi Roberta! Yes it is Carlisle made! It’s the Hellcat. The outer burner is great to have especially when heating these tubes! I absolutely love my torch and highly recommend it to anyone who works on a larger scale or for those who like to work both hard and soft glass.
I’m sure these tubes would ship fine to Hawaii …. Their packaging is excellent for overseas customers!!👍🏽 I sell my own icicles! The only other place to get them is online through the Toledo Museum of Art store. At the moment I have no oxygen and am behind on everything…. 😭 But yes! I make these when ordered anytime of the year!

Do these have to be annealed? What thickness is the glass tubes? Thx

Hi Cindy! That’s a really great question. These tubes are about 1.0mm thick and can be batch annealed anytime after they are made. The tubes are pretty thin, so there is rarely any annealing issues. However, there are times that I haven’t annealed them and I have never had a problem!

Just a question your running bottled oxygen what gas are you using?

Good question, Lyn! The flame looks white because I have an inner flame and outer flame going at the same time making the flame much larger. Also, it’s being filmed through a didymium lens. That reduces the amount of reddish color in the flame! It looks so beautiful!

Hi Lyn, the gas I use is just propane. I have 2 small 20lbs. tanks. The propane lasts me months…as opposed to the oxygen!
If you are not using natural gas or a small ‘map’ gas tank, propane is the only way to go!
