There's more to the A's than what you see on the field.
The owner, John Fisher, wanted to get the A's out of Oakland, but he needed a "reason" to do so. One way to get a reason, is to create a "False Narrative" that the fans and the City of Oakland are at fault for being "unsupportive".
After the 2020 Playoffs, he traded away the A's star players & their big prospects to other teams. If he didn't trade them, he refused to extend any expiring contracts and let them go through Free Agency. These were players that had the A's set for Playoff runs for the next few years. He then gave the remaining A's players & prospects who are AAA League quality at best the lowest Payroll in the entire MLB. Which resulted in a poor-quality team you see (even to the time this is posted). This is John Fisher's way to drive away fans, which it did. In the eyes of the fans, they refused to attend games because Fisher essentially tore the A's apart. In Fisher's eyes, the fans refused to attend games because the team was poor-quality. And he used that to pin the fault on the fans being "unsupportive". When he created the whole mess.
As for the City of Oakland, he didn't bother to clean/repair the Colosseum. Let alone pitch in for a new stadium at Howard Terminal proposed by Oakland. Plans were set & John Fisher outright refused it and it prompted Oakland to back off (for the time being), but he used that to pin the fault on Oakland for "not holding their end of the deal". When he just outright refused it altogether.
All of that just to get the A's out of Oakland. And guess who bought all of this? The MLB Commissioner, Rob Manfred. Flashforward to 2023, he's backing up Fisher to where he actually rewarded him to relocate the A's to Las Vegas and gave him the money to build a new stadium.

The 90s was greats for kids baseball movies. You had Angels in the Outfield, The Sandlot, Rookie of the Year and Little Big League

Give Mitchell credit. He was pulled, but he was still celebrating and happy for his teammate. That’s a good player
@TehJew22
I never noticed that until you brought it up. I give him credit too 🙂.
