Gypsy Heart
Michelle Tumes Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

This desert road draws every step
I roam on endless sands
Fables of treasures told
Have kept me in foreign lands
The mirage I made veiled your face
I counted the loss

I cried an ocean today
Just to sail on rains of love
I have this homage to pay
And it's taking me where you are
All of these moonless nights
Have ransomed moments by your side
You're home for the gypsy heart
You're home for the gypsy heart

This forest, emerald green
My refuge in its canopy
When evening falls, the stars won't shine
Through this cloak of leaves
The path I paved, veiled your name
And regret is the cost

I cried an ocean today
Just to sail on rains of love
I have this homage to pay
And its taking me where you are
All of these moonless nights
Have ransomed moments by your side
You're home for the gypsy heart
You're home for the gypsy heart

There's a river of faith
Winding back to your name
There's a mountain of truth
Climbing back to your name
There's a river of faith
Winding back to your name

I sail on the rains of love
I have this homage to pay
And it's taking me where you are
All of these moonless nights
Have ransomed moments by your side

You're home for the gypsy heart
You're home for the gypsy heart

Overall Meaning

The song "Gypsy Heart" by Michelle Tumes is a story of a wanderer, who has been traveling far and wide in search of treasures, but ends up realizing that the real treasure was waiting for him/her all along. The wanderer has been on a desert road where he/she walked on endless sands, and heard fables of treasures, which kept him/her wandering in foreign lands. However, in that mirage of wealth and treasures, he/she lost sight of the person they truly loved, and it cost him/her dearly. The wanderer has cried an ocean of tears to sail on the rain of love to pay homage to the person they love, taking him/her home to where he/she really belongs. The wanderer has found his/her true home for the gypsy heart.

In the second verse, the wanderer has found refuge in the forest's emerald green canopy. But even then, the wanderer can't find peace as the regret of losing the person he/she loved haunts him/her. The wanderer paves a path that veils the person's name he/she loved, and it becomes a cost he/she has to bear. The wanderer again cries an ocean of tears for love and sails on the rain of love to pay homage and take the wanderer back to where he/she belongs, to the person they love. The wanderer understands that there is a river of faith winding back to the person's name he/she loved and a mountain of truth climbing back to his/her name.

Overall, the song "Gypsy Heart" tells a tale of a wanderer who has finally found his/her true home for the gypsy heart in the person he/she loves. The wanderer has traveled, lived, and regretted, but in the end, he/she realizes that the real treasure has always been waiting for him/her, and that person's name is the only path that leads the wanderer home.
