1. Born in Toronto, Canada, Miguel Veloso, (b. December 6, 2002) also known as MICO, is changing the atmosphere of the indie-pop space for any artist that follows.
On June 27, 2019, MICO released his debut solo single, “who do you love,” onto all major platforms independently. Writing, arranging, and co-producing everything alongside Long Island producer Prxd. Jay, he would drop 3 more singles before releasing his debut EP, 21st century heartbreak on July 30, 2020.
On March 31, 2021, MICO released his single, “make me leave”, acting as the lead single of his upcoming second EP, second thoughts. The single was followed by “had2do,” a collaboration with Grenada singer marc indigo, and “down!.” a theatrical-pop-rock song reminiscent of the late 2000’s. Prior to release of the fourth single, "lie lie lie," the song garnered over 2,000,000 views across a variety of TikTok videos, including one with over 1,300,000 views, amassing over 650,000 Spotify streams within the first month.
2. Mico was formed in 1998 by John and Troy in Banff, Alberta, following the dissolution of John's previous band, Red Fisher. Their debut CD "Standing Inside A Shadow" came out on Edmonton label, Does Everyone Stare? in 2001. Mico underwent a series of member and instrument changes following the release of their second album "Outside the Unbearable Grows" (G7 Welcoming Committee) in June 2003, but the core members remained.
While rooted in "punk", both in their ideals and musical inspiration, the band drifts into several musical styles in any given song. You're just as likely to find 8 minute long shoegazer-ish compositions as you are 30 second rock songs, and sometimes a combination. The difficulty in pigeon-holing the band means that they are often branded with the misleading "emo" label - something they are less than comfortable with. The key here is melody - each song laden with hooks and burning with energy, yet still managing to maintain an underlying melancholia throughout. Although "the personal is political" label applies here, vocalist and key songwriter John Stewart is also not afraid to cut the shit and say exactly what's on his mind.
2001 - 2004 saw Mico garnering critical acclaim while criss-crossing Canada and the United States. They've shared the stage with bands such as The Weakerthans, Strike Anywhere, Propagandhi, Samiam, Moneen, Hot Hot Heat, the New Pornographers and Onelinedrawing.
Although the Mico's membership is in a constant state of flux, and the band is now based out of Winnipeg, MB, Stewart continues to push Mico forward, releasing the digital-only album "Our Living Language" in October of 2006 and touring across Canada.
3. Mico is the essential essence of artist Mieko Shimizu whose stream of conscious poetry set within a cinematic sound clash of fractured musical landscapes attempts to induce a sub-conscious response, which is further enhanced by her live collaborations with visual artists. Born near Mount Fuji, Japan, Mico is now based in London where she is extremely active in the art and music scene. She has scored numerous Manga animated films, released three solo albums formed the electro-ethno project “Mekong Zoo” with Japanese Violinist Aska Kaneko and, in contrast, also set up experimental Drum ’n Bass project “Apache 61”. Mico has also collaborated with Coldcut on their track "Wild about that thing" (ninja tune) as well as with monika's own Barbara Morgenstern and Robert Lippok on two tracks (kaitisburi and otsukimi) from last years Tesri album.
4. A name alteration of 60s Japanese Pop singer Hirota Mieko/Mieko Hirota.
5. Mico is a metallic hardcore band from Cali, Colombia. They mix grind, sludge, hardcore and metalcore with catchy riffs, quick and heavy drum fills , bassy grooves, raspy and guttural vocals. http://micolandia.bandcamp.com/
6. Mico hails from Atlanta Georgia and has been around music his whole life. It took until his freshman year of college, spent at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, for him to start taking his passion for music more seriously. While studying abroad in Europe he began to record the EP "This Is My Cat, Squea" which he released along with the lead single "Just Fine" later that summer. Mico's debut album is expected to drop sometime in 2021.
On My Mind
Mico Lyrics

Of showing our emotions, now you glance to roll your eye
Every time, every time
Once upon a week ago you tried for us
But now I feel there's suddenly a me and you apart
Girl, to you, who am I
Are you falling out of touch
Am I thinking way too much
I just try to say what's on my mind
You just second guess me every time
I see there's nothing I can do to keep that lovin' energy
I'm just tryna read between the lines
But you been double spacing every phrase you type
I see reciprocating's not your type of methodology
You know I tried my best to keep my head afloat but you just weighed it down
Talk was inescapable, but now it's just another sound
Was still in love, but now it's tearin' me apart
How you're caring from the start, not now
Take me whole and crush my soul
Used to show me off, now no one knows
Just who I am, and now I know
How you feel deep down
Are you falling out of touch
Am I thinking way too much
You say move on, I say hold on
I just try to say what's on my mind
You just second guess me every time
I see there's nothing I can do to keep that lovin' energy
I'm just tryna read between the lines
But you been double spacing every phrase you type
I see reciprocating's not your type of methodology
In "On My Mind," Mico delves into a relationship that's fallen apart. He reminisces about a time when they were both capable of showing emotions to each other. But now, he feels like he's on one side, and she's on the other. He can't help but wonder, is she falling out of touch? Am I thinking way too much? He wants to hold on to what they had, while she's telling him to move on. Mico tries to express his feelings, but she always second-guesses him. He feels like he's trying to read between the lines, but she's double-spacing every phrase she types.
The song reflects the struggles of a relationship where one person is feeling neglected and fighting to keep the relationship alive while the other person is emotionally distant and unresponsive. It's a relatable theme for anyone who's been in a romantic relationship that's falling apart. The repeating melody and the lyrics "I just try to say what's on my mind, you just second guess me every time" convey the frustration and helpless feeling someone can experience in this situation.
