2. MIKE is a punk rock band from Stockholm, Sweden.
MIKE started in January 2006 by Joel, Fredrik, Viktor and Jesper. The four guys from the southern part of Stockholm/Sweden had all played in different bands for years. Back in 1996 Viktor started a band called No Division with a friend. Jesper joined the band in 2000 (then called Pronoid), where they both played for five years. Joel played in the band Dechas, who released an EP on DayGlo Records in 2000 and an album on Shutdown Records in Australia in 2002. Fredrik had been playing in the band In Memory Of Me and in different bands before that. Jesper and Joel played together from time to time for a while and they both love punk rock, and when Jesper quit Pronoid they started talking about playing punk together. They talked to their old friends Viktor and Fredrik and started jamming some of Jespers songs and the result is what today is known as the band MIKE. After about a year our good friend Fredrik decided to quit the band to play with a reggae band from Uppsala. We then tried out two drummers but decided to pick one of Joel's old friends, Totte. He'd earlier been the drummer in bands like Milk bar, Devoured, Songea and Simpleton. Experience and routine was a fact. He'd actually only been in the band for about a week when he performed his first show with MIKE, and a week after that we went into the studio to record a couple of songs.

This what we doing
Why you told me 'bout the
Life we could've lived?
Dig my grave 'cause I'm likely to resist
Uh, flip the page
See my writing on the script
Been the brave since '90 with my kin
It don't make sense climbing up the cliff
Is it for the views or the drift, nigga?
I can touch the moon from my crib
Bae by my side so it's soon, the eclipse
It's monsoon when I spit
Looking in the sky, got my shoes in some shit
I was here last year, no improvement in this
I move with a limp and a crew that's legit
You get foods for the chips
Burning ash, straight tools in the wind
Break fools with a fifth
Yeah, yeah, yeah, uh, break
Looking back and it move me a bit
It's true, we were truly in distance, dawg
You couldn't make a movie for this
'Cause I know what I did and
I know that you didn't
Looking back and it move me a bit
(It's true, we were truly in distance) Dawg
You couldn't make a movie for this
'Cause I know what I did and I know
(That you didn't)
Since last year, shit ain't been the same
Greens in the toe doing something to my brain
Seizing my soul from a mother full of pain
These ain't the wounds I could
Cover with a chain i was on the cloud with
My brother in the rain
Fiend take a toll, we be fucking
What you saying? These niggas old
They be plucking at the gang
But believe we is bold and
We tough enough to stand
These niggas cold, niggas fucking up the plan
Believe in your quote
Don't just post it for the fam
But how you put us on? Ain't
Even putting on your mans yet work out
I'm sleeping like a cushion in your hand
Your worth ain't a feature
Can't eat from other men
The beef's from other land, never did rhyme
I'm 'bout to hit one year with the wisdom
When the fan spin, where do the shit come?
So even if I land, we can miss some
I miss making other plans for us to get lunch
I did break enough to land in a big blunt
Ain't tryna lose you to the
Hands of the system
The lyrics of Mike's song "INVESTIGATE311" delve deep into themes of introspection, self-reflection, and personal growth. The opening lines express a sense of defiance and determination, with the repetition of "yeah, yeah, yeah" setting a tone of assertiveness and readiness to confront challenges. The mention of digging a grave metaphorically suggests a readiness to face obstacles head-on and resist anything that may try to hold the singer back from their goals.
The lyrics further touch upon the passage of time and the realization that change is inevitable. The reference to being brave since '90 with kin highlights a sense of familial bonds and resilience in the face of adversity. The questioning of motivations - whether the actions are for personal gain or for genuine experiences - adds depth to the contemplation of one's own journey and purpose.
The song then shifts focus to a more somber tone, with the acknowledgement that things have not been the same since last year. The use of nature imagery, such as "greens in the toe" and "on the cloud with my brother in the rain," conveys a sense of being surrounded by both beauty and turmoil. The references to pain and struggle suggest a deeper emotional and mental battle that the singer is facing, highlighting the complexities of dealing with personal demons and external pressures.
The lyrics also touch upon themes of loyalty, authenticity, and staying true to oneself amidst societal pressures and expectations. The singer reflects on the importance of believing in one's worth, not just for oneself but also for those around them. The mention of avoiding being consumed by the system and the need to make plans for the future underscores a sense of agency and empowerment in navigating a world that can often feel overwhelming and unjust. Overall, the song's lyrical content encourages introspection, resilience, and staying grounded in the face of adversity.
