Stop Worry!
Mike Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm telling you, just wake up
Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up
Mike on mic to chat cah Sister Nancy come to shake dem up
Oh, reaching, I'ma reaching, I'ma reaching
I'ma reaching out, say, "Wake up"

I peep your struggle in your pain, ma
I know my team, I weigh your number when it's game time

There's too much buzz around my name now to stay discreet
How I'm the one who bring the fame 'round when I couldn't speak?
I show my bro another way out
I only trust you if you lay down when shit was getting deep
Another summer with them gray clouds, puddles 'round my feet
Stay disruptive and remain wild, never giving peace
Since we huddled 'round the grave, fry in sun and then we freeze
Grab a cup and let my face drown, accompanied with trees
Sit, stuttering away, cause the company to leave
Just need something I could break down, budge against the heat
Buckle up, we 'bout to change routes, never changing speed
Sudden luck could go a great mile
All this luggage make the plane ground
Growing up I learned to play a crowd, but I know when to leave
Too much substance for the faint crowd, don't know when to keep
Tryna cut it, I'm a strange flower growing out the creek
Know the job, if it can't file, come without receipts

Peep your hustle in your brains, ma
I hold the D, I can't fumble on a game shot
I peep your struggle in your pain, ma
I know my team, I wear your number when it's game time (wake up, bumshot)

I say, "Wake up everybody," yeah, we'll wake up
Aye, I say, "Wake up"
Rasta people, you know you have to wake up
Rise up, I say, "Rise up"
Sister Nancy, man MIKE, have to rise up
Repeat (wake up)
Stamp yuh foot and I say jump for joy
You know that Sister Nancy know you take after no toy
Say, "Wake up"
Everybody, if you're sleeping, wake up
No more sleepin' in bed, the city hungry
Must be fed, the city play, must be late
Chah, Momma Nancy, the living legend
I say, "Wake up"
Everybody, I say, "Wake up, wake up, wake up, bumshot"
No sleepin' in bed, repeat-peat-peat, no sleepin' in bed

Hungry, must be fed, I say the blind must be led
You listen to this originality

. They are not mutually exclusive events. time perceived has nothing to do with value around time. The feeling of loss of a loved one can carry for an eternity because that role can never be filled. Love though brotha. I hope you get some peace as opposed to "you late asl"-ing someone who is showing love.

MIKE, I feel like you've saved me this year, or at least saved me from excessive self harm. Lost my dad and auntie this year. My relationship of 7 years just crumble when my partner couldn't deal with me at my lowest. And still I found the time to smile and dance to your music, dood. It's been more than hip hop or art to me; it's been healing. I am so grateful for your existence, MIKE. Peace and love~
