Mike Dawes / 2007 / Guildford
Mike began his musical adventure aged four, when his parents introduced him to The Blues Brothers. In his early childhood he experimented with keyboards before picking up his first electric guitar at 12. Instantly taking to the guitar, Mike quickly became involved with the local music scene, involving himself in numerous bands and projects. In 2003, at 13, Mike reached the semi-finals of Jimmy Page's 'Riffathon' competition.
Having experimented with tapping techniques on his old Les Paul, in late 2007 he picked up his first acoustic guitar, A modified Taylor dubbed 'Jean Claude'. He proceeded to embark upon a solo career which saw performances across southern England, it was during this time that he developed his style, a unique blend of genres with a touch of humour.
Since forming 'Mike Dawes & Amy Turk', Mike has been honoured to share the stage with some truly world class musicians. He is currently writing and performing with Nick Benjamin's 100th guitar (Alpine Spruce/Cocobolo), A beautifully rich sounding guitar that compliments his style perfectly

@AlexandrMisko
That’s fantastic. Mike is a genius and that reverb accompanies him so great!
@chrismaggard9912
As are you misko! To be honest when I first heard your music I was really jealous because we are about the same age. You've helped push me harder in my pursuit of music though and have given me a lot more fresh, new, and different ideals that I wouldn't have reached on my own. You are a true genius and I can't wait to see how your style will continue to develop throughout your life. Never stop never stopping. As if I even have to tell you that. Thanks for your amazing music man. Do you have any tabs available? I would love to learn your cover of take me on. Last I checked I couldn't find tabs though.
@Highcastle_of_Tone
One of the only players that carries on the tradition of beauty in this approach like Michael Hedges. So many people can demonstrate those techniques now, but few get the vibe. Mike does.
@bidyutdatta5042
People are rushing for Percussion. Guitar Music is disappearing. We want melodies not Heavy Percussion
@deanfaklaris9987
totally reminds me of Michael Hedges - who I saw in a bar back in...omg what year? 1991?
@electronicmusicnetwork

@6riffmaster
Mike is one of my all time favourite guitar players and the hall of fame is one of my favourite reverbs. This is perfection
@sixwingsram
Love the direction you're music is taking; really beautiful and melodic; wonderful compositions, very heartfelt
@owenrsmithmusic2029
I love the expression of joy and excitement mixed with almost surprise on Mike's face while he plays ("How am I even making these sounds???!!!). I also suspect he has one more finger joint in each of his left hand fingers compared to us mere mortals... :-) Beautiful stuff Mike, thanks for the inspiration
@SoMyungJung
The master of melody & harmony.
Simply astounding.
