+Dr. Jekkl and Mr. Snide That made me giggle :D But I gotta say, I think if Gavin's music would be played on the radio, it would lose everything that makes it so special. First of all, he'd make millions upon millions of dollars, and that changes people. He'd be forced to make music that appeals to a larger circle of listeners, which, then again, would be nothing else than the shit you hear in the radio. If today's money-focused society listened to Gavin like they listen to David Guetta, Katy Perry and all those untalented idiots, his music would lose its meaning. It's a matter of opinion, of course, but I've always wondered "Do famous singers or actors actually know pain?" I mean, everyone loves them, they can get whatever girl they want, they can buy literally everything that exists and all that. So... people who don't know pain can't put as much emotion in their music. Because how could they write sad songs if they're not actually sad? I'm really glad that Gavin's music is not on the radio. He deserves 100000 times more recognition than he has, but I'm happy about how it is. Just my opinion though.

Just the knowledge that you wrote this for a friend, that one little detail without any other context, I dunno, maybe it's just me, but that adds an unending depth to this song. It's beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Just picturing what vague kind of troubles this person went through based on the info given in the song. And then these words, they're like a lighthouse in the fog. This song is great. It put me in the right frame of mind to overcome my addiction.

I was listening to it as I was leaving work, and as I was driving up to the road where turning one way was home, and the other was the city I was listening to this song. Then in the middle of the chorus my cassette adapter got ejected, and the radio was playing "Hello my name is" right in the middle of the chorus. If it hadn't been for this song I would be much worse off today.

I hindsight, I was rejecting entirely the wrong addiction, but it was quite positive at the time. This is still one of my favorite songs. This is in my top five of your songs and always reminds me of a friend that died four years ago yesterday. She was always the one who would bring us up, pull us together, and keep us pushing forward in our group. When she died it hurt worse than anything else in my entire life, but I know that she wouldn't want us to stay sad. Gav this song is simply fantastic. Ive listened to it several times in the past but never really gotten the message till recently. A few days ago my mother was diagnosed with Lung Cancer and it really tore me apart inside. But after listening to this song multiple more times in the past hour it has really helped to cheer me up and have faith my mom will beat cancers azz. Gav, out of al your amazing music and songs, this is the one that I always come back too.
It holds such a concrete space in my heart, and I just feel like this is the song that I want to be playing in the background for the rest of my life, because it makes me feel like climbing to the top of the Empire State building and screaming out the lyrics, but also just sitting in a field with my headphones as this blasts in my ears with me tapping the tune out of my thigh, but also it makes me want to cry and curl up into a ball on my bed with a huge tub of ice cream.

This song really helped me when I was at my darkest, early in my high school years. At a time when I felt my existence held no merit, when I felt that no one would care if I died, I first heard this song. It brought me tears to hear someone else empathize with my pain, and then remind me that there was still more that I was destined to do. It, among other inspirations, gave me enough hope to move forward and reach the point that I have now, where I am strong enough of mind, body, and spirit to realize my full potential. I know this has been up for a bit over three years now, but I really can't overstate how much good this song alone has done. I've got very severe social anxiety along with major depressive disorder, and I first found this song at a time when things were very bleak for me. It gave me the push I needed to finally just break down and cry, and it helped give me the strength to get help. I still struggle sometimes , but I would definitely be worse off without this song in my life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Gav.

In the video recordings, it really seems like you're giving it your all. I imagine that you have a lot of vocal fry that sometimes you choose not to include in your recordings over smoother vocals. Let fly sometimes like near the end (and actually right at the end of the song to close) where there's just a slight tinge of it. Really adds another layer to your music. Correct me if I'm wrong, of course, but Man and Machine had that heavy "vocal fry" feel to the vocal track and it'd definitely work for how amped up you look in the video towards the end!

It sometimes creeps in naturally yeah, a little gravel. I find when I try to 'make' it happen though (like in man & machine) I can strain my throat a bit. I find it better to let it just rasp when it feels like it haha :D

miracleofsound I don't understand how a Bad Guy like me who only plays Grindcore or the so-called True Black Metal is able to be not only happy but comforted with your music; I know the music I play comes from my most inner being, but when I listen to this Art and musically speaking perfect performance You add something to me that was not there before, and all the fog, the evil and the darkness inside me retreats and I can for seconds to reach, to touch a world that is Different and Colourful. Thanks. Not many can do it. It means talent. A talent that is capable to reach different people. Even me, a world appart.

Coming back here after six years is a journey, I remember hearing listing to this song back when my depression was at its worse and it really helped me get back up on my feet again.
And here I am six years later and coming back to listen because times are hard again, and season depression has really picked up hard this year. So thanks for a wonderful song that can still help me out in a hard time :)

Every time I hear one of your songs I have this urge to hit the like button, then I realise I already liked it and feel sad because I can't like it 17.000 more times :(

This song made me tear up for two reasons. While listening to the song it reminded me of myself and my own problem. Specifically the line "Don't fade away" reminds me of how I used to feel constantly. But halfway through the song it got stuck and so I read the description which said you wrote it for a friend. So the second reason is how I felt as if this was for me in my situation.
A very powerful song that for me deals with the saddest material of my life so far. And yes, I've gotten much stronger over the years, but like your friend I imagine does, I carry it with me always.
