Still Alive
Mirror's Edge Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I have changed
Just like you
Just like you
For how long
For how long
Must I wait
Your concrete heart isn't beating
And I've tried to
Make it come alive
No shadows
Just red lights
Now I'm here to rescue you oh
Oh I'm still alive
I'm still alive
But can not apologize, no
Oh I'm still alive
I'm still alive
But can not apologize, no
So silent
No violence
But inside my head
So loud and clear
You're screaming
You're screaming
Covered up with a smile I've learned to fear
Just sunshine
And blue sky
Is this all we get
For living here
Come fire
Come fire
Let it burn and love come racing through
Oh I'm still alive
I'm still alive
But can not apologize, no
Oh I'm still alive
I'm still alive
But can not apologize, no
I've learned to lose
I've learned to win
I've turned my face against the wind
I will move fast
I will move slow
Take me where I have to go
Oh I'm still alive
I'm still alive
But can not apologize, no
Oh I'm still alive
I'm still alive
But can not apologize, no
The lyrics of Mirror's Edge's song "Still Alive" speak to a sense of change and transformation, both within oneself and in relation to the world around us. The repeated phrase "I have changed, just like you" suggests a universal experience of growth and evolution, while the question "For how long must I wait?" hints at a sense of impatience or frustration with the pace of progress. The singer then observes that "Your concrete heart isn't beating," perhaps recognizing a lack of emotional connection or passion in the world.
This sense of stasis and disconnection is emphasized by the description of "no shadows, just red lights," which could represent a sterile and oppressive environment. The singer then offers themselves as a rescuer, declaring that they are "still alive" and able to offer help, but without feeling the need to apologize for their strength or resilience. The second verse explores the contrast between external calm and inner turmoil, with the singer describing the loud and clear "screaming" inside their head that is hidden behind a mask of false happiness.
The final verse offers a message of resilience and determination, with the singer declaring that they have "learned to lose... and win" and will boldly move forward no matter what obstacles they encounter. The repeated refrain of "I'm still alive" becomes a mantra of hope and affirmation, suggesting that even in the face of struggle and adversity, we can find ways to keep moving forward and stay true to ourselves.

I don't know why I find the 2006-2009 futuristic aesthetic so nostalgic. Something about it is just so comforting while also still feeling fresh.
@Rob-nv7ew
I think the game hit everyone hard because it feels so lonely but at the same time you feel a connection with the city. There's something beautiful about feeling an understanding with the world around you without having to have a human connection there beside you
@septiancahya
I know the answer, because in that time there is hope for a greener future yet we want a better next gen tehcnology, combine it then you will get a "futriger aero" aesthetic, google it and you will find for what you looking for

@@septiancahya I looked it up on google, thanks for showing this, it's a really cool topic to dig into and I have to admit that's how mid 2000s really felt like, glossy and green/blue
