Elliott is one of the first female hip hop superstars, known for a long series of hits including "The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)", "Hit 'Em Wit Da Hee", "Get Ur Freak On", "One Minute Man", "Work It", and "Lose Control". In addition she has received recognition as one of the most successful songwriters of the modern music era, having crafted a number of hit records for artists such as Aaliyah, 702, Total, Ciara, Nicole Wray and Tweet, often with production-partner and childhood friend Timbaland. She was the third female rapper to ever go Platinum, behind Lil' Kim and Da Brat.
Born in Portsmouth, Virginia, she began her career in the all-girl R&B group, Sista in 1993. Eventually, the band folded and Elliott began her career as a solo rapper. Since the early 1990's, Elliott has won six Grammys, recently scoring one for her video of "Lose Control."
Other releases are 'Teary Eyed' and 'We Run This', and the last of these two songs will be the main single of the new greatest hits album titled 'Respect M.E.: Best Of' featuring 17 tracks from her six albums.

I see you lookin' at me
Word up, just talk to me
And tell me what's on your mind, haha
When I'm alone, I close my eyes
To think of you by my side
When I'm asleep, I always dream
So is it hard for you to stop by my way
And watch a little TV, lay back and conversate
I don't mind if you don't mind
Baby we can spend some time
I don't mind if you don't mind
Baby we can spend some time
Uh, it feels so good when I'm looking in your eyes
Bodies, huggin' it's warm, all this wrapped so tight
Lay back, fantasizing
Of me and you layin' together, realizing
I don't mind if you don't mind
Baby we can spend some time
I don't mind if you don't mind
Baby we can spend some time
Uh, Scooby-Scooby Doo's got me good in my duty
And I'm checkin' out these cuties
Let me have a man-man nigga booty
Yo I'm checkin' out the fly gear that my bigger nigga's sportin'
He got the new air ?, and I want to
Yo, Mr. lover wants my body
'Cause he see that I'm a hottie, surprise me
And I gotta make 'em cute
And make 'em want to want to uh, uh, uh, uh, down my boots
So you best be keepin' your composure
Or turn the motive, I told ya down town means lower
So if you got a problem sugar take your time
'Cause if you don't mind baby I don't mind
I don't mind if you don't mind
Baby we can spend some, can spend some time
I don't mind if you don't mind
Baby we can spend some time
I don't mind if you don't mind
Baby we can spend some time
I don't mind if you don't mind
Baby we can spend some time
I don't mind if you don't mind
Baby we can spend some time
I don't mind if you don't mind
Baby we can spend some time
Missy Elliott's song "Don't" is a laid-back and sultry tune about spending time with a lover. The lyrics talk about the desire to spend time with someone special, and the pleasures of lounging around together. The song begins with Missy inviting someone to talk to her, and then goes into a verse about daydreaming of being with a lover. She asks if it's difficult for them to spend time together and invites them to watch TV and "conversate."
The chorus repeats the line "I don't mind if you don't mind, baby we can spend some time," conveying Missy's willingness to spend time with the person and her hope that they feel the same way. The second verse describes the physical sensations of being close to someone, with bodies hugging tightly and the pleasure of looking into each other's eyes. The chorus repeats again, followed by a bridge where Missy talks about being attracted to different people and wanting someone to "surprise" her. She ends the song by reiterating that she's willing to spend time with the person if they want to as well.
Overall, "Don't" is a simple but effective song that captures the feeling of wanting to spend time with someone you care about. It's a slow and dreamy song that showcases Missy's softer side, with a backup instrumental that complements the melody well.
