Mister is an acoustic trio combining a mix of Folk, Funk and Rock influence to create a sound unique to the acoustic genre. Born out of jam sessions after Cross Country practice, Mister has slowly climbed the ranks of the St. Cloud, Minnesota music scene, thanks in no small part to a wide array of guest musicians, its steady stream of new songs and their loose, unscripted shows in coffeehouses around the area. Having recently gone into the studio to record their first CD, the future is looking bright for these young folkies.

Broken Wings
Mister Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Why we can't just hold on
To each other's hands
This time will be the last
I fear unless I make it all too clear
I need you so
Take these broken wings
And learn to live so free
When we hear the voices sing
The book of love will open up
And let us in
Take these broken wings
Baby I think tonight
We can take what was wrong
And make it right
Baby it's all I know
That you're half of the flesh
And blood makes me whole
I need you so
So take these broken wings
And learn to fly again
Learn to live so free
When we hear the voices sing
The book of love will open up
And let us in
Take these broken wings
You've got to learn to fly, learn to live, love so free
When we hear the voices sing
The book of love will open up and let us in yeah, yeah
Let us in
Let us in
Baby, it's all I know that you're half of the flesh
And blood that makes me whole
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
So take these broken wings
And learn to fly again, learn to live so free
And when we hear the voices sing
The book of love will open up and let us in
Take these broken wings
You got to learn to fly, learn to live and love so free
When we hear the voices sing
The book of love will open up for us and let us in
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
The song "Broken Wings" by Mister is a ballad with a deep introspective feel. The opening line in the song, "Baby I don't understand, why we can't just hold on to each other's hands," is a clear expression of emotional confusion and a deep longing for clarity in a relationship. The desire to hold on to each other's hands represents the need for emotional security and a solid foundation in a relationship. The singer's fear that this time may be the last unless he makes it all too clear expresses his need for transparency and honesty in the relationship.
The central theme of "Broken Wings" is to take brokenness and turn it into newfound freedom. The chorus "Take these broken wings and learn to fly again, learn to live so free," can be interpreted as a call to take the obstacles and challenges in life and conquer them. The idea of flying again represents the ability to rise above the struggles of life and regain independence. The book of love will open up to those who have learned how to live so free, indicating that by overcoming one's internal struggles and learning to love oneself, one can enter into a relationship with someone else with newfound freedom and openness.

Cannot believe this song is almost 40 years old, yet it sounds like it could have come out yesterday. Truly a timeless classic.

It feels like such a privilege to have grown up in the 80s. We may not have had the technology then as we do today, but the music, fashion, and creativity were the best. 🥰

@@jamela6357 👊🏽 I’m a #70baby and #80teen. Movies like The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, Weird Science, Heathers, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and others bring back so many good memories of being a teen. And recent movies/mini series like WW1984, Stranger Things, and The Wedding Singer are near and dear to my heart. 😁❤️
