Fool
Mitaka & The Little Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
How long we were fool'd
Now transmuted
We swiftly escape
As nature escapes
We are nature
Long have we been absent
But now we return
We are rocks
We are oaks
We grow in the opening
Side by side
We are two, among the wild herds
We are many
We are two, among the wild herds
Spontaneous as any
We are two clouds
Forenoon and afternoons
Driving overhead
We are what the atmosphere is
Receptive
Pervious
Impervious
We two, how long we were fooled
We are snow
Rain cold
Darkness
We are each product and influence
Of the globe
We have circled and circled
Until we arrived home again
We, it is who balance ourselves
Orbic and stellar
We are as two comets
We have circled and circled
Until we arrive home again
We are bedded in the ground
We are rocks
We are oaks
We are bedded in the ground
We are rocks
We are oaks
We are bedded in the ground
We are rocks
We are oaks
We two, how long we were fooled
We have voided all but freedom
And all but our own joy
The lyrics to Mitaka & The Little's song "Fool" convey a sense of awakening and liberation. It seems to describe a journey of self-discovery and a realization of one's true essence. The opening lines indicate that the two individuals in the song have been deceived or misled for a long time, but now they have undergone a transformation and are breaking free from those illusions. They are compared to nature itself, emphasizing their connection to the world around them and their return to their authentic selves.
The lyrics use vivid imagery to depict their newfound freedom. They describe themselves as rocks and oaks, rooted and grounded in their existence. This imagery suggests stability, strength, and resilience. The lines "We are two, among the wild herds," highlight their unity and interconnectedness with others, symbolizing their belonging in the world.
The song continues to explore their identity, referencing clouds, rain, darkness, and other natural elements. This imagery conveys a sense of fluidity and adaptability, suggesting that they are receptive to the experiences and influences of the world. They have traveled and wandered, but have ultimately arrived back home, both in a physical and metaphorical sense.
The concluding lines of the song celebrate their newfound freedom and joy. They have shed everything that weighed them down and now embrace their own happiness. The song conveys a sense of liberation, authenticity, and a deep connection to the world and oneself.

Metric - Lost Kitten
Don't say yes if you can't say no
Victim of the system, say it isn't so
Squatted on the doorstep,
swallowed all the blow
Leaving without you, can't say no
Halfway starts with
happiness for me
Halfway house,
lost kitten in the street
Hit me where it hurts,
I'm coming home to lose
Kitten on the catwalk,
high-heeled shoes
No more hot-headed Saturdays
They got it, they want it,
they give it away
Tell me one thing
you would never do
I was looking for a hooker when
I found you
You've got my eyes,
you've got my eyes
You'll never be mine, ah,
but you've got my eyes
When you lie, I cover it up
When you hide, I cover it up
When you cry, I cover it up
When you come undone,
I cover it up
So pent up,
I was coming home to you
Happy in the night time,
howlin' at the moon
Sippin' on a cocktail,
drinking in the loo
There's something about you
I hold on to
You've got my eyes,
you've got my eyes
You'll never be mine, ah,
but you've got my eyes
When you lie, I cover it up
When you hide, I cover it up
When you cry, I cover it up
When you're blind, I cover it up
When you lie, I cover it up
When you hide, I cover it up
When you cry, I cover it up
When you come undone,
I cover it up
They got it, they want it,
they give it away
They got it, they want it,
they give it away
They got it, they want it,
they give it away
They got it, they want it,
they give it away
When you lie, I cover it up
(They got it, they want it,
they give it away)
When you hide, I cover it up
(They got it, they want it,
they give it away)
When you cry, I cover it up
(They got it, they want it,
they give it away)
When you come undone,
I cover it up
(They got it, they want it,
they give it away)
