you call on me
and I love the way call my name
and I feel that I
coming under your spell
and I love the way
you speak my name
girl
and I'm coming back
6to who I am
yand I feel that I
stuck on the same old train
going back and forth
begin to the place
I started in
and I love the way
you call me
and I love the way
you speak my name
girl
and I'm coming back
and I'm coming back
to who I am
and I'm coming back
and I'm coming back
to who I am
and I'm coming back
to who I am
and I'm coming back to who I am
In "Coming Back" by Mitch King, the singer talks about the feeling of being under someone's spell and the power they hold over him. He loves the way this person calls on him and speaks his name, which suggests that this person has some sort of control over him. However, despite being stuck in the same routine and going back and forth, he realizes that he needs to come back to who he really is. The repetition of "coming back" emphasizes the theme of returning to his true self and breaking free from the hold this person has on him.
The lyrics suggest that the person he is referring to is someone who he is romantically involved with, although this is not explicitly stated. The line "I'm driving back" could also suggest a physical journey, perhaps to see this person, but it also can be interpreted as a metaphor to return to his true self. The repetition of "girl" at the end of the verses highlights the importance of this person in the singer's life and emphasizes that he loves the way this person makes him feel, despite feeling trapped.
Overall, "Coming Back" is a song that speaks to the feeling of being lost and trapped, but the hope of finding one's way back to their true self. It also emphasizes the power that another person can hold over us and how we can get lost in their influence.

It's rare that I hear a song on Pandora (Black Keys Radio) and immediately search it out... the song wasn't even over before I ran to the keyboard. It was an enormous shock when I found out that Mitch King wasn't enormously famous... because his music is better than 99% of the stuff out there today. Keep it up man, you're gonna be HUGE!

Mr. King... Love this song. My wife passed in Aug '23.. and this song helps me get through the pain and the loss.. To get back to "who I am".

I've been coming back to this song for years... it's so good. The ending in particular goes HARD, man. I've never heard an acoustic guitar be that heavy to this day. I'm a luthier, too, so hearing someone play a guitar this well gives me immense joy. You're fuckin' incredible.
@MitchKingmusic
I use 1 pickup on my acoustic and go through an electric guitar amp which gives me the sound. Thanks so much Josh :)

Holy crap I donβt think Iβve ever seen seen someone use a harmonica as a microphone for that kind of vocal filter before. Fucking ingenious. I thought it was something done in post when I first heard the song. That is one of the most creative things Iβve ever seen.
