Monique Smit took part in a tv-show called 'Just the two of us', in which she had to sing duets with singer Xander de Buisonjé. This is where she first started singing. Monique and Xander didn't win the show, but became 2nd. However, Monique did end up recording a single.
Monique Smit already had a christmas-single together with her brother Jan Smit. It was called "Kerst voor iedereen" (Christmas for everyone). But in 2007 she finally signed a record deal. "Wild" was her first single.
