She Knows Where She Goes
Moorer Allison Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
About a bad situation
Some say the song
She knows
She looks for the question
Of the answer of the prayer
She knows where she goes
Could vanish without a trace
Just some dishes some pans
Some clothes
And so shes turned in the pages
Of an undying faith
She knows well where she goes
Her window is open
The weather comes in
The doorway moves as it blows
She stares through her memories
And the places shes been
She knows where she goes
Shes so full of fire
But she cant reach no torch
Too much wind for those
She can walk out to springold
And never leave the porch
She knows where she goes
She washes her hands
In the cold dark water
Turning from something she knows
She longs to be free
But her reflection has guided
She knows where she goes
Oh, she knows where she goes
In "She Knows Where She Goes", Moorer Allison describes a woman who is self-assured and steadfast in her beliefs, even when faced with difficult circumstances. The woman never talks about the struggles she faces in her life, but her actions speak volumes about her resilience. The lyrics suggest that some people might think this woman is singing a song to express her pain, but in reality, she is simply looking for answers to her prayers. She is aware of her surroundings, and she knows where she needs to go to find her place in the world.
The song speaks to the theme of faith, both in a religious sense and in a broader sense of having conviction in one's own abilities and beliefs. Despite the woman's lack of material possessions, she is rich in faith and determination. The imagery of an open window and a blowing doorway convey the idea of change and uncertainty, but the woman remains strong and steady, guided by her faith and her memories.

How many are still listening to this song (2024)? She doesn't get the credit she deserves! What a voice! I still come back for more!

Saying I wrote this seems small since I wrote everything in lyrics for her first 6 CD’s

I had drinks with this lady and her benefactress, Barbara widish way the night she procured the storylines from me for her first six cd’s..and only saw them once again before Allison was nominated for an Oscar performance for one of them…and then I never heard from them again.

One of the most beautiful truly country songs ever made. And made more sad and deep by this rendition. This girl should be on every chart.
