Moron Police Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Of all the things I saw beneath the steam
It's hard for me to grasp the implications
Of a distant land of songs within machines
Like a dream
It's cold here in the winter
And I've lost my pair of shoes
Now, bow down, unbeliever
Like everybody else
I'm like everybody else
Deal in dreams and resurrections
A promise of a wheel that slowly turns
A god that has grown old and us forgotten
Lay me down before I have to kneel
At the seams
And over in the winter
There's snow beneath my feet
For every step a small defeat
Now, bow down, unbeliever
Like everybody else
I'm like everybody else
In Moron Police's song Parachutes, the lyrics delve into themes of demons, machines, and forgotten gods. The song's narrator speaks of seeing things beneath the steam, indicating perhaps the mechanical workings of society. The idea of a distant land of songs within machines suggests a world where technology becomes both the art and the enemy of the people. The line "like a dream" perhaps speaks to the surreal and fantastical nature of this world the singer has encountered.
Continuing on, the lyrics mention the cold of winter and the loss of a pair of shoes, which could be interpreted as a metaphor for feeling unprepared and vulnerable in this strange world. The singer proclaims themselves to be the truth in every song, implying perhaps that they are able to see through the illusions and deceptions of the society around them. The line "Now, bow down, unbeliever, like everybody else, I'm like everybody else" suggests that despite the singer's unique perspective, they still ultimately conform to society's expectations.
The song speaks to the human condition of dealing with the disillusionment of the world around us and the tendency for individuals to internalize and conform to societal norms. The music video for the song features an animated sequence of a dystopian city, further emphasizing the idea of a society dominated by machines and technology.

(Skriver på engelsk for at alle folk skal få muligheten til å vite om denne fantastiske fyren). God damn… I just heared about Thores death, read it in the newspaper. Me and my cousin are really into music, both of us plays guitar and bass, but i’ve also played the drums. My cousin and i were chatting in 2019 and then he asked me: Have you heard about moron police? And i said no. Then my cousin introduced me to you guys, and he showed me the tracks captain akward and charlie’s enourmous mouth. I was in love. You guys are the band that have inspired me the most, and you are one of my favorite bands. I’ve heard your song so so Many times, but it never gets old. The most listened to band on spotify in 2019, 2020 and 2021 were you guys. I’ve played so Many of thores drum Lines, and now hearing about his death makes me devastated. I added Thore on Snapchat in 2020, and i told him about how much i love your music. He said that was generous of me to say, and we started takling about drumsets and nerdy talk. That was one Good day. Now he rests, and that is tragic. I wish you guys the best of luck, and Thores drums and his generosity will always stay in my heart. Best of luck.
