Mortal is a christian industrial-band founded by Jyro Xhan and Jerome Fontamillas. They also pursued a techno influenced project called Jyradelix in San Diego, California, USA. They were a very influential band in the beginning of the 1990s.
In January of 1992 their debut album, Lusis, was released on Intense Records, the metal-division of Frontline Records. Other bands on the label were Die Happy, Tourniquet, Saviour Machine and Mortification. The style, though, was very different from the other bands. The music consisted mostly of samples and electronic sounds, something unheard of in the Christian world at that time. The album didn't go unnoticed and won the people's vote for 'best new band' at the CCM Update awards. Lusis was produced by Terry Taylor of Daniel Amos.
Currently, Jerome is a member of Switchfoot. Jyro is working for Crystal Lewis' label Metro One Music as a producer, engineer, keyboard and guitar player for various bands.
2) Mortal were a UK electronic act from the Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells area, active in the mid 90s and originally known as Code. Beyond The Mystic Haze
Across The World So Wild
In Bluish Fever
I Wait For The Sky To Fall
I Wait For The Haze To
My Wait Is Here
Fear - The Killer
Hate - The Enemy
Love - The Power
The Limit
Outside The Edge Of Sight
Beneath The Shifting
Behind A Trick Of Light
I Glimpse Forever
I Pray For The Sight To See
I Pray For The Earth To
I Pray For The Light To Be
I Pray My Saviour
Under The Aegis Of The
Living God
(We) I Trust And Love With
Under The Aegis Of A Lov-
Ing God
(We) I Live And Breathe
Love The Killer
Love The Enemy
God The Power
The Limit
The lyrics of Mortal's song Neplusultra are filled with vivid imagery and spiritual themes. The song begins by describing a world that is both mystical and wild, evoking feelings of anticipation and danger. The singer is waiting for something to happen – either for the sky to fall, the haze to lift, or for the call of the wild to come. This waiting is a central theme throughout the song, suggesting a sense of restlessness and longing.
In the second verse, the lyrics take a more introspective turn. The singer reflects on the forces that drive human behavior, positing that fear and hate are destructive forces while love is a positive power. The use of these abstract concepts adds depth to the lyrics and speaks to the universal struggles of the human condition.
The final verse brings the song's spiritual themes to the forefront. The singer prays for the ability to see and understand the world around them, and for a savior to guide them forward. The mention of a living God emphasizes the idea of divine intervention in the lives of individuals, while the use of "we" suggests a communal aspect to this faith.
Overall, Mortal's Neplusultra is a powerful and thought-provoking song that explores themes of waiting, spirituality, and the forces that drive humanity.

It's good to hear this again, even though it was crap that my mom made me listen to as an alternative to "secular" music. I can still smell the paper when I hear the music! So weird...
