- DJ Mr. Jones (real name: Jonas Uittenbosch), a techno producer from Haarlem, the Netherlands.
Mr Jones, born in Amsterdam in 1981 under the name of Jonas Uittenbosch, was always surrounded by music. He played some instruments during his childhood and grew up listening to jazz, untill he discovered housemusic and bought his own turntables once he was a teenager.
There aren’t many styles Mr Jones didn’t try: from hardcore to dubstep, from electro to hiphop. He even had a gigg in Bitterzoet as Hiphop DJ. “But once I saw and heard Dave Clarke in 2003, I was hooked on techno.” He was still discovering techno music, but he already was asked to perform at parties troughout the Netherlands, Germany and Austria.
But spinning records wasn’t enough for him. Mr Jones started to produce tracks. In the last couple of years his main focus was to find his own sound. “That’s why I didn’t feel the urge to DJ a lot anymore. I really made a giant leap after Ritzi Lee gave me some advice.” He started to leak some of his tracks on the internet and it didn’t take long before these got picked up. “It really was mindblowing when I heard that Dave Clarke played some of my tracks during his weekly radioshow WHITENOISE. ” It started with the track ‘Zoom 21.0’, released by Anthony Duponts label ‘Bass Pressure’, soon followed by ‘Zoom 30.0’, released by the label of Johnny Digital, ‘IHARTDIGITAL’.
The passion he has for music and his fascination for making something out of nothing has brought Mr Jones this far. “But don’t think I’m satisfied. This is only the beginning.”

You're not that far
I think I can see you
Stay where you are
I've been right here forever
Yes, there is Water on Mars
Yea
I lay beside you
Are we just two worlds
Sharing one star?
I've been right here forever
Yes,
There is Water on Mars
Maybe I
Should compromise
For goodness's sake?
Maybe you
Can let me rest
When you're awake?
Maybe I can laugh with you
And pretend to care about your day?
Hey?
Maybe I
Can wear a tie
And crack a smile?
And maybe you
Can take an inch
And not a mile?
Maybe you will still want me
Even when I'm not in style?
Now
Hello there Venus
You're not that far
I think I can see you
Stay where you are
I've been right here forever
Yes, there is Water on Mars
Yea,
I lay beside you
Why you're so far?
Are we just two worlds
Sharing one star?
I've been right here forever
Yes! there is Water on Mars
Maybe we
Can travel cross
The Galaxy?
Maybe you
Can share my world
Just come in peace?
Maybe stardust will align
And consummate what's incomplete?
Yeah!
Maybe I
Can see a different point of view?
And maybe you can take break on them honeydews?
Maybe you're good for me?
And I may be perfect for you! Yea oh oh oh!
Hello there Venus
You're not that far
I think I can see you
Stay where you are
I've been right here forever
There is Water on Mars
Yeah,
I lay beside you
Why you so far?
Are we just two worlds
Sharing one star?
I've been right here forever
Hey, there is Water on Mars
Hello there Venus
You're not that far
I think I can see you
Stay where you are
I've been right here forever
There is Water on Mars
Yeah,
I lay beside you
Why you so far?
Are we just two worlds
Sharing one star?
I've been right here forever
There is Water on Mars
Yeah
The song “Mars” by Mr. Jones is a poignant song about two different worlds that are both close and yet far away. The first part of the song is addressed to Venus, a neighboring planet that is not too far away from Mars. The singer wonders whether the two worlds are just sharing one star as they are so close. The line “Are we just two worlds sharing one star?” could be a metaphor for two people in a relationship who are so close to each other but are not able to bridge the gap between them. The chorus of the song emphasizes that there is water on Mars and that the singer has been right here forever.
In the second half of the song, the singer talks directly to his partner and suggests that maybe they should compromise and see things from each other’s point of view. The line “Maybe I can wear a tie and crack a smile? And maybe you can take an inch and not a mile?” seems to suggest that the singer is willing to do things to make the relationship work. The song ends with the chorus being repeated, emphasizing that there is water on Mars and that the singer has been right here forever.
Overall, “Mars” is a beautifully written song that uses the idea of two planets to explore the themes of distance and longing in human relationships.
