As a concert pianist in the 50’s, Met’s grandmother was a big inspiration and attribution to his natural ability to play keys and produce music. Big Daddy Kane was Met’s first influence to writing rhymes. Kane said “you could put wings on your tongue and still couldn’t say nothing fly” and met thought it was the most genius thing he had ever heard. After he heard that line, met sacrificed every minute of his day thinking of clever punch lines, metaphors, and wordplay to show off to the neighborhood hip hop heads. This is where the name “Mr. Metaphor” was born. He started calling radio stations like Martin Moore and DJ Meham, Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito, and any other radio station he could get his voice heard on.
He began making a local buzz for himself. After internal conflict with his first group “SUB 4”, met decided to accept the invite from the other local Park Slope group making noise “Zooty Zoo”, and joined forces with Building Block (Block McCloud) and Will Tell. The 3 artists formed the group Word A Mouth and went on to be featured on the Lyricist Lounge Volume 1 album hosted by De La Soul. This Album was released in the golden era of hip hop and opened up an audience to Mr. Met so detrimental to his success today.
Soon the legendary Pumpkinhead, another Park Slope native MC came into the picture and the chemistry between the artists was like none other. They formed the Brooklyn Academy and went on to release a number of independently released records that topped college radio, billboard and dance charts.
Mr Met released his first and only independently produced album “Metropolis” in 2005. Experimental and mainly self produced, met composed a play list of no sample songs he created on the Triton Keyboard, playing different melodies and chords, singing his hooks, and experimenting with his bi-lingual capability to rap and sing in French. That same year met traveled to Cannes France with the Lyricist Lounge for the “Midem” conference, and made some strong business contacts with many international music companies around the world.
Along with experimenting on the musical side of hip hop, met decided to step into the business side of the entertainment business and began event coordinating and throwing parties. He started Remarcable Entertainment which has now gained a very respectful reputation for its brand. Met has worked with Funk Master Flex of NY’s hot 97, DJ Gold finger, DJ Red Alert, Stretch Armstrong, Rich Medina, and has gained relationships with hundreds of DJ’s in NYC. As a solo artist met has toured England, Canada, France, and has performed in Vermont, Albany.
New Jersey, and countless venue’s in NYC. As a member of Brooklyn Academy Met has toured all over the world and countless cities up and down the east coast and the Midwest. Met is a highly respected artists. He is your favorite artist’s favorite artist. His witty lines, advanced flows, bi-lingual raps, and incomparable ability to write a song separates him from the over saturation of mc’s in the hip hop game. He is a true professional song composer made for the entertainment business.

Articules quand tu parles
Si tu sais pas mimer, tu as tes classiques à revoir!
Tu as juste à recrée la vie!
Tu as juste à rester naturel!
Quoi? pourquoi tu me déranges?
The lyrics of Mr. Metaphor's song "Sacrifice" delve deep into the struggles and frustrations of a performer who is tired of the inauthenticity and lack of dedication he sees in his fellow actors and actresses. The opening lines highlight the dichotomy between those who are calm and composed versus those who are nervous and conflicted. The singer, feeling a mix of both personas, expresses his disdain for the artificiality and pretense that often plague the world behind the curtains of the stage.
The artist criticizes those who rely on superficial charm and physical appearance to gain roles on stage, rather than honing their craft and truly understanding the essence of the characters they portray. This critique extends to the lack of emotional depth and sincerity in performances, with the singer highlighting the mechanical nature of some actors' delivery, devoid of genuine feeling or connection to their roles. The frustration is palpable as he critiques the lack of authenticity in the theatrical world and the hollowness of performances that lack true artistic substance.
The themes of sacrifice and artifice come to the forefront as the singer reflects on his own dedication to his craft, juxtaposed against those who lack the passion and commitment required to excel in the acting profession. He questions the motivations of those who enter the field without a genuine love for the art, criticizing their lack of humor, dedication, and willingness to learn. The singer's dedication to his own art is evident as he navigates the challenges and disappointments of the industry, using his own sacrifices as a testament to his commitment to his craft.
The song culminates in a moment of reflection and satisfaction for the singer, as he finds solace and fulfillment in his ability to connect with an audience and evoke genuine emotions through his performances. Despite the frustrations and challenges he faces, the singer finds joy in the process of creating and connecting with his audience, even in the face of obstacles and criticism from others in the industry. The lyrics encapsulate a journey of self-discovery, resilience, and unwavering dedication to one's art form, resonating with those who strive for authenticity and meaning in their creative pursuits.
