VERSE 1:
You said that you don’t care, you say that you don’t love,
You said that you won’t share, your feelings with me no more,
I used to be right there, every time you called my phone…
Now fuck it, it’s unfair, you don’t answer when I call…
I sacrificed myself, sacrificed my all,
I feel that in my chest, right now I just got a hole,
That’s the price I had to pay,
That I’m still paying since you’re gone!
Living without a soul, sleeping at night alone,
Left in an empty home with a mattress on the floor…
Fuck! I was on the low, ain’t nobody to call,
Thinking about the suicide, drinking that alcohol…
Hennessy&Patron, Cali weed in the bong
Got me thinking about everything,
About the reason I’m here for,
Hustle and take the throne, I was born, I’ll die alone,
Lesson to know, it made me grow
That’s my motivation how I moved on, now...
HOOK: (x2)
Tell me how it happened, I loved you,
Tell me what is happened, I lost you,
Tell me what is happening now that
I want you, I miss you, I need you back...
VERSE 2:
You said that you don’t care, cause you’ve been hurt before,
Easy for you to get over it and moving forward,
I used to be aware of people with empty souls,
They use to have in their chests 7 degrees below…
And you were just like that, ready to start a war,
I was looking for peace, ready to share love,
Why you’re acting like a bitch? You knew that I’m a Pro,
Girl you better check the score, cause I can only win or grow.
Living without a soul, sleeping at night alone,
Thinking that if I’m losing you maybe I’m loosing all…
Fuck, I was on the low, never thought I can fall,
When you’re falling for love it can hurt you to the core.
And I had to let you go, now I’m focus on the glow,
I’m working like 24 hours, seven in a row…
Hustle and take the throne, I was born I’ll die alone,
Lesson to know it made me grow
That’s my motivation how I moved on, now…
HOOK: (x2)
Tell me how it happened, I loved you,
Tell me what is happened, I lost you,
Tell me what is happening now that
I want you, I miss you, I need you back...
The lyrics of Mr. Mike's song "What Happened" delve into the raw emotions of heartbreak, loss, and moving on after a relationship has ended. In the first verse, Mr. Want expresses feelings of betrayal and abandonment as his partner seemingly turns cold and distant. He portrays a sense of hopelessness and emptiness as he grapples with the aftermath of being left behind. The imagery of sacrificing himself and feeling a hole in his chest highlights the deep pain and loneliness he experiences, symbolized by his heart turning into stone. The desperation and loneliness are further emphasized by his contemplation of suicide and seeking solace in substances like alcohol and drugs.
The chorus serves as a lamentation of love lost, with Mr. Want questioning and longing for answers about what went wrong in the relationship. Despite the hurt and confusion, he still yearns for his partner, emphasizing his conflicting emotions of love and loss. The repetition of wanting, missing, and needing his partner back reflects the internal turmoil and longing for reconciliation. The stark contrast between the love he once shared and the current state of separation adds to the poignancy of the song's theme.
In the second verse, Mr. Want reflects on the dynamics of the relationship, highlighting the differences in how he and his partner cope with emotional pain. He juxtaposes his own empathetic approach with his partner's defensive and confrontational attitude, leading to a clash of values and priorities. The imagery of having a cold soul and being ready to start a war underscores the emotional distance and discord between them. Despite his efforts to maintain peace and love, Mr. Want faces the harsh reality of rejection and heartbreak, forcing him to reevaluate his own worth and priorities.
As the verse progresses, Mr. Want delves deeper into his struggles with loss and the fear of falling out of love. The vulnerability and sadness he experiences are palpable as he confronts the pain of letting go and refocusing his energy on personal growth and self-improvement. The refusal to be defeated is illustrated through his dedication to hard work and perseverance, symbolized by his commitment to hustling and taking control of his own destiny. The verse culminates in a message of resilience and determination, highlighting the transformative power of pain and heartbreak in fueling personal development and inner strength. Ultimately, the song captures the universal themes of love, loss, and resilience in the face of heartache, resonating with listeners who have experienced similar emotional journeys.
