You have to tell me what you see
What very you see
Is that who you are
Is that who you are!
Is that who you are
Is that who you are
If you don't know where I'm coming from
Please don't judge me you are not my God
I have a dream in life
You cannot make my dream to die
If you don't have a dream in life
You don't have a vision
If you don't have a vision in life
You don't have a life
Never you judge a book by it cover
What matter most
What I have to offer
What I have to offer
Huh
Never you think that how you look
Will determine
What you are going to be in life
Going to be in life
Never you mind what people think about you
Never you mind what people saying about you
Only just to believe in yourself
Believe in yourself
When you look at the mirror
You have to tell me what you see
What very you see
Is that who you are
Is that who you are!
Is that who you are
Is that who you are
You cannot judge me because I'm black
You cannot judge me because I'm white
You cannot judge me because I was born poor
You cannot judge me because I was born rich
I cannot change myself for you to like me
I cannot do a plastic surgery for you to love me
I will become whatever I wanna become
No matter what or where I find my self
What matters most that we are human beings
Let's give respect to each other and made the world
A better place
Made the world a better place
Made the world a better place
Never you think that how you look
Will determine
What you are going to be in life
Going to be in life
Never you mind what people think about you
Never you mind what people saying about you
Only just to believe in yourself
Believe in yourself
When you look at the mirror
You have to tell me what you see
What very you see
Is that who you are
Is that who you are!
Is that who you are
Is that who you are
The lyrics of Mr. Mike's song "Who You Are" carry a powerful message of self-acceptance and defiance against judgment and societal expectations. The song begins with the reflection of looking at oneself in the mirror and questioning what is truly seen. The repeated line "Is that who you are" emphasizes the search for authenticity and identity. Mr. Mike challenges the listener to understand their own journey and not to be swayed by the opinions of others who do not truly know where they come from or where they are headed.
The lyrics express a plea not to judge, reminding us that other people do not hold the power to determine our worth or shape our dreams. Mr. Mike asserts his right to fulfill his own aspirations, refusing to allow others to dim his dreams. He emphasizes the significance of having a dream and a vision in life, stating that without these, one cannot truly live.
The song also tackles the issue of prejudice and discrimination. Mr. Mike reminds us that we should not judge or be judged based on external factors such as race, social status, or appearance. He rejects the idea that one's physical appearance can define their future or worth. Instead, he calls for mutual respect and acceptance, fostering a world where everyone is treated equally. He believes that by respecting and understanding one another, we can make the world a better place.
