Potential
Mr. Moon Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
Hmmmmm
It wasn't so surprising
Descending
Of the road
All the time you're hiding
Need to go
The sons they were so easy
They told you
How to grow
But it pains me
To see you
Failing
It's all on hold
Ohhhhhh
(Dear brother)
Ohhhhhh
Under the pressure
Your lessons
Make a mark
All in all the outcome
Should influence
Your heart
By the time I reach you
The flowers
They are dry
The garden of potential
Its water
Stay alive
Ohhhhhh
(Dear brother)
Ohhhhhh
Hmmmm
It wasn't so surprising
Descending
Of the road
The lyrics of Mr. Moon's song "Potential" convey a sense of inner conflict and struggle as well as a poignant reflection on life's journey and the choices we make. The repeated humming at the beginning sets a contemplative and reflective mood, hinting at the depth and complexity of the emotions explored in the song.
The lines "It wasn't so surprising, Descending of the road" suggest a sense of inevitability or resignation to a path chosen or followed. This descent could symbolize a downward spiral or a journey towards self-discovery and challenges faced along the way. The repetition of hiding and the reference to needing to go somewhere implies a sense of feeling stuck or constrained by one's circumstances or inner struggles.
The mention of being told how to grow by others, likely referring to societal expectations or influences, highlights the conflict between external pressures and inner desires. The pain expressed at seeing someone fail or struggle suggests a sense of empathy and concern for a loved one's well-being, while also hinting at a feeling of helplessness in the face of their obstacles.
The themes of pressure, lessons learned, and the passage of time are further explored in the lyrics, emphasizing the importance of personal growth and resilience in the face of challenges. The imagery of dry flowers and a garden of potential needing water to stay alive serves as a metaphor for nurturing one's talents and aspirations in order to reach one's full potential. Overall, the song captures a sense of longing, introspection, and the complexities of navigating life's uncertainties and choices.
