Formed in Dublin in the late 1990's, mrnorth have had quite an odyssey leading up to the release of their debut record Lifesize. The four-piece, made up of two brothers, a first cousin and a next door neighbor, started playing together when they were young teens. After making some noise on the Dublin scene, the boys left Ireland for Vicenza, Italy. The trip was supposed to last for 3 months, just long enough for a producer to put down some tracks for a record. Instead, the band became local favorites and toured all of Italy for the next two years. Then, the band met up with an American manager who brought them to New York City. With constant performances, mrnorth built up a great fan base in New York and eventually all over the Northeast. Next, the band caught the eye of several record executives. mrnorth scored a record deal and went into the studio with Jerry Harrison (Talking Heads, Live, No Doubt). The result was Lifesize, 12 moving tunes of epic proportions. Lifesize allows the listener to feel an enormous lift with each song from start to finish, just as it is delivered by mrnorth in the live performance. The record exhibits an incredible unity and tightness among its four members. Smith delivers the songs with one of the most powerful and original voices in music today and is often compared to Jeff Buckley, Thom Yorke and Freddie Mercury. Audiences are constantly blown away by the charismatic singer's vocals combined with his energetic performances. mrnorth broke out of the Northeast in 2003 with tours in the Southeast, Midwest, West Coast and Hawaii including support shows with Liz Phair, Puddle of Mudd, Sheryl Crow, Evanescence, Bruce Willis and 'Lollapalooza 2003. 2004 saw them taking part in Lollapalooza, Nashville Rivers, Camp Jeep and Music Fest as well as supporting The Who, Van Halen, Live and Brian Adams. The band have spent the last few months writing and recording the follow up to Lifesize.

Razor sharp with the bars
But still grimy with the cuts
Yβall cant move like us
Razor sharp with the bars
But still grimy with the cuts
They Really Think We Out Here
Like That
They Really Think We Out Here
Like That
They Really Think We Out Here Wasting Time
Yo they Really Think We Out Here
Like That
They Really Think We Out Here Wasting Time
They Really Think We Out Here
Like That
We ainβt got patience for your grind
Just Signed Another Deal
Say Wha
Just Added A New Skill
Say Wha
Just Upgraded My Network
Say Wha
Working Toward A New Net Worth
Wha
Youβre Really Think We Out Here
Like That
Youβre Really Think We Out Here Wasting Time
They Really Think We Out Here
Youβre That
We ainβt got patience for your grind
Yβall out here thinking Im living my best life
Well thats nice this shouldnβt be this tough
Coin a moment that could be labelled as trife
and flip it like heads or tails ainβt enough
Percolate a tune with a pinch of my rude
To get an error message with yo fake attitude
Most cant understand what I do
But thats ok cause the focus is new
Im a square looking at it from four corners
Keeping these method in operating order
Thereβs
More work
More trife
More twerk
More sacrifice
you call it a simple slice
They really think Im out here bullshitting
Yβall Really think Im Out here wasting time
Im from a different construct
Nubuck constructs
Semi Jeans
And semi tucks
You better watch your conduct
Or be stuck out of luck looking up to Jesus
Plus
I only move to make bucks
If it sucks and donβt add up
Im like good
Thereβs no rush
Yβall cant move like us
Razor sharp with the bars
But still grimy with the cuts
They Really Think We Out Here
Like That
They Really Think We Out Here Wasting Time
They Really Think We Out Here
Like That
They Really Think We Out Here Wasting Time
Yo they Really Think We Out Here
Like That
They Really Think We Out Here Wasting Time
They Really Think We Out Here
Like That
We ainβt got patience for your grind
The lyrics to Mr. North's song "Wasting" convey a sense of self-assurance and confidence in his own artistic abilities. He states that nobody can move quite like him, being both sharp with his lyrics and yet still raw and gritty in his delivery. The repetition of the phrase "Y'all cant move like us, razor sharp with the bars, but still grimy with the cuts" emphasizes his unique style and skill.
The chorus highlights the misconception that others have about him and his fellow artists, suggesting that people think they are wasting time instead of recognizing their hard work and dedication. Mr. North dismisses this notion, stating that they have just signed another deal, acquired new skills, upgraded their network, and are working towards a higher net worth. He asserts that they do not have patience for anyone else's grind, indicating their focus on their own success.
In the second verse, Mr. North addresses the perception that others may have of him living his best life, but he reveals that things are not as easy as they seem. He plays with the idea of taking a difficult moment, referring to it as "trife," and flipping it like a coin toss, implying that he can overcome challenges. He also mentions his unique approach to music, incorporating elements of his own personality and attitude, while acknowledging that many may not fully understand what he does.
The final lines reiterate his distinctiveness, referring to himself as a square looking at things from all angles. He emphasizes the importance of keeping his methods in order and mentions his dedication to hard work and sacrifice. Mr. North concludes by asserting that others may think he's wasting time, but in reality, he is focused on making money and dismissing anything that doesn't align with his goals.
Overall, the lyrics of "Wasting" reflect Mr. North's confidence in his own abilities, his commitment to hard work, and his dismissal of others' misconceptions about him.
