Hands
Mr. Tuxedo Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It won’t be a lake, the back of a car
Lines on my arms, a crack from a bar
A break in my veins, a shot from a gun
A fire, warning or rays from the sun
Not a virus, pollution or a fall from a height
I’ll walk hand in hand with you into the light
It won’t be a fall from firth of forth bridge
My arms & legs froze in a fridge
Savaged by dogs, swallowed by pigs
Poisoned by gas in illegal digs
Buried by landslides, burning on flights
I’ll walk hand in hand with you into the light
It won’t be old age, drown in the sea
Choked on a chicken bone stuck inside me
Exposure to cold, a fall from the sky
This list of the ways that I hope I don’t die

The next one, the chorus, that one’s alright
I’ll walk hand in hand with you into the light

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Mr. Tuxedo's song "Hands" express the hope that the singer and their partner will go through life together until the end. The song is saying that it doesn't matter what kind of calamities might befall the singer - from drug use to being physically harmed or killed in some way - because they will leave this life when they are meant to, and always together. The song specifically mentions many potential causes of death, both natural and unnatural, to underscore that whatever might happen, the singer will always want to be with their loved one.

The opening lines mention that the singer won't die in a lake or in the back of a car, and also references lines on their arms and a crack from a bar, which could indicate drug use. The mention of a break in veins and a shot from a gun could also be related to addiction. However, the song goes on to rule out many other causes of death, such as falling from the Firth of Forth bridge, being savaged by dogs or swallowed by pigs, being buried by landslides, burning on a flight and many more.

The final lines of the song - the chorus - say that whatever does happen, the singer will walk "hand in hand" with their partner "into the light". This light could be interpreted as the afterlife or simply as the next stage in their journey together.

God bless those hands that make these amazing pieces......Let's all protect tailors who are the real deal in this business! Bespoke suits will always above ALL the high fashion suits.

not comparable bespoke tailored suits are very different compared to fashion house suits however fashion houses that have strong roots in bespoke tailoring like gucci do offer that same kind of experience for a suit.

@Simon Vuille what you pay is what you get.....

This is not a sensible comparison. If you want an absolutely "correct" suit, according to traditional tailoring, yes. But what is the occasion? What if you're going to a party? Then maybe you want something a bit more embellished or unusual to attract attention, so then you don't go for suits like these, you go for (back in the day) Thierry Mugler, Jean Paul Gaultier, Versace, and so on. Yes, the lapel might have a slightly gape, or the lapel roll might be slightly too short or long, or this and that... But the point is there you're paying for the design.

@JAZZ MAN I believe its them that haven't yet been enlightened by the aura of classical dressing..

JAZZ MAN

I have a pair of Canali butter coloured pants that have the legs a bit wider than ordinary pants, and they are sheer bliss the second I step into them. Cool and comfortable to the touch. I wear them with a navy blue blazer with brass buttons and brown beautifully polished Oxford shoes. I’ve actually been laughed at for being smartly dressed, such is the slovenly way some people think. People in cities are less inclined to treat you like that, but small towns sometimes have higher proportions of small - minded people in them. I overheard someone say “look at the state of him” he had ill-fitting torn jeans and jacket with dirty trainers, but it was me that was “the state”. I don’t dress up a lot, but if I go to the city, I do.

I really like the style of Mr Porter's videos. Elegant, calm, even soothing with perfect selection of the music. I know this is a channel about men's fashion but I appreciate a lot the filming and editing of these "behind-the-brand" videos.
