I wish I could, innovate,
I wish I could come up with something new and fresh,

And try to stretch your minds,
And challenge your thoughts and beliefs,

Cause often times, when guys like me,
Because often people like me,

Do that they leave themselves behind,
Lose themselves in the pursuit of innovation,

To clean a mess, or to impress,
To fix someone else's problems or win their approval,

A little bit of everyone,
To please everyone in some small way,

But to innovate, is a mistake,
But trying to be truly original is a risky move,

Cause there's nothing new under the sun.
Since all ideas are essentially recycled,

Wit, wit's all been done before,
Cleverness has all been done before,

Yeah we do something to death,
We beat a concept to death,

Then we dig it up just to do it some more.
Then we resurrect it only to repeat the cycle.

In all my lines of warning signs,
My lyrics often contain warnings,

But not all with dead ends,
But not all of them will lead to failure,

And I'm not sure if the clever words,
But I'm not sure if my witty lyrics,

Will sit well with my friends,
Will be well-received by my acquaintances,

But I will not just sit and watch,
But I won't just stand idly by,

And me the victim fall,
And allow myself to be a victim of the system,

I'll just have to do,
I'll have to simply take action,

What my gut tells me to,
Trust my instincts and do what feels right,

And hope that you will buy it all.
And hope that my audience will appreciate my efforts.

Originality is a ghost town,
Originality is hard to come by,

And it's oh so hard to get to,
And it requires a lot of effort,

And when you do, then people start to hate you,
And when you actually achieve it, people may resent you for it,

You scream what you believe out loud in a crowd,
You express your strongest convictions openly in public,

And they will hate you,
And some people will despise you for it,

Cause repetition's just so safe,
Because repeating what's already been done is easier and safer,

And repetition's just like prison,
But it's also stifling and limiting,

And I prefer to be out of place,
And I'd rather stand out and be different,

Cause I'm not really into prison.
Because I don't want to be tied down and restricted.

Cause we're all getting tired of the media,
Because we're all growing weary of the same old content,

Cause it tries too hard to make you like something,
Because it forces things upon you in hopes of winning your approval,

Cause creating something new is just recycling,
Because inventing something truly original is nearly impossible and everything is just a twist on something existing.
