Mucky Pup began as a hardcore band formed in Bergenfield, New Jersey in 1985, when brothers John (drums) and Chris (vocals) Milnes joined up with Dan Nastasi (guitar) and former Hades member, Scott LePage (bass). The band went through various incarnations and several musical style changes while gaining minor success in both the USA and Europe. Arguably, their breakthrough moment occurred when Berke Breathed picked their songwriting contest entry for release with a 1987 Bloom County comic strip compilation. However, their European success, based on strong tours and charting for the 1989 A Boy in a Man's World album, surpassed all recognition achieved in their home country

Mucky Pup Lyrics

REHEARSED, CONVERSATIONS,
JUST TO SEE, EACH OTHERS FACES
THE THINGS I WANT FROM HER,
ARE THE THINGS I GOT FROM YOU
NERVOUS HANDSHAKES, AND MISSED KISSES,
HE'S SMILING, CAUSE HE KNOWS,
HE KNOWS, I'M LEAVING THIS EVENING
SHE'S ALWAYS LOOKED GREAT BUT TASTED BETTER.
TONIGHT SHE WORE THE SAME BRA SHE WORE THEN.
I SAW IT SLIP, SLIP OUT OF ALIGNMENT
WITH THE SHOULDER STRAP OF HER SHIRT.
DID SHE UNCONSCIOUSLY LET IT FALL
TO MAKE ME REMEMBER? OR DID SHE CONSCIOUSLY
LET ME SEE KNOWING IT WOULD BRING ME TO MY KNEES
WHY DO YOU KISS, SO GOOD SHE ASKED,
ASKED ME TO STOP, STOP FOR A MOMENT
IT'S THE KISS, THAT SONGS, ARE WRITTEN, WRITTEN ABOUT
The lyrics are about a man who desires what another man has - presumably a woman. He admits that he wants what the other man has, but the other man knows it. The two of them have rehearsed conversations, likely to see each other's faces without raising suspicion. He then goes on to say that the things he wants from the woman are the things he already has from someone else.
The second verse describes the awkwardness between the man and the woman. They exchange nervous handshakes and missed kisses, indicating that there is a lot of tension between them. The man knows he's leaving that evening and the other guy is smiling, probably because he knows that he'll be with the woman once the man leaves.
The third verse describes how the woman looks and tastes better than ever, and she's wearing the same bra she wore before. It slips out of alignment, which could either be a subconscious or a conscious move to remind the man of their previous encounters. The last line is about the kiss being so good that songs are written about it.
Overall, the song seems to be about infidelity and one man wanting what another man has. The lyrics describe the tension and awkwardness between the characters and how they try to hide their attraction to each other.
