Overall Meaning

The essence of Mumford & Sons Baaba Maal's song "Si Tu Veux" is about choice and the consequences that arise from our decisions. The lyrics talk about a situation where two people are trying to come to an agreement about what to do or where to go. The song portrays the idea that their decision will either lead to them spending time together or going their separate ways. The central idea behind this is that every one of our actions or non-actions have consequences, it is up to us to be accountable for these actions and the outcomes that result from them. The chorus "Si Tu Vas Tu Verras" translates to "If You Go, You Will See". This line can be interpreted as an encouragement to take risks and experience new things, even though the results are uncertain.

The phrase "Si Tu Ne Veux Pas Tu Vas Chez Toi Ou Bien Je Vais Chez Moi" translates to "If You Don't Want To, You Go Home Or I'll Go To Mine". The line highlights the importance of respect for boundaries and the understanding that one person's choice should not be forced upon the other. The line "Si Tu Veux Tu Viens Chez Moi Ou Bien On Va Chez Toi" which translates to "If You Want, You Come To Mine Or We'll Go To Yours", suggests compromise in communication is essential when it comes to making decisions that involve more than one person.

In conclusion, Mumford & Sons Baaba Maal's song "Si Tu Veux" is a thought-provoking piece. It highlights the importance of choice and the effect it can have on our lives. By weighing the consequences of our choices and respecting the choices of others, we can make more informed decisions that lead to positive outcomes for all parties involved.

If you want to stay that's great
If you want to leave I'll follow you
If you want to speak I'll listen
And if you want to sleep I'll be quite
If you want gold take mine
If you agree I don't want anything else
If you want me dead no problem
I love you
If you want to dance with another
If you want to lie in another's room
I'll wait beneath the moon counting the stars one by one
If you want to see me down on the ground falling to my knees biting the dust
If you wonder why I don't cry
When you don't give damn about me
It's because you've never know what's it like to fall head over heels
No don't feel sorry for me
If anyone should be pitied it's you

Hey, the singer does not sing only in French, so I can't understand everything. But the few bits in French are :

Si tu veux tu viens chez moi
Si tu ne veux pas tu vas chez toi
Ou bien je vais chez moi

Si tu veux tu viens chez moi
Ou bien on va chez toi

Si tu vas tu verras
Si tu vas tu verras

Which can roughly be translated in :
If you want to, you can go to my place
If you don't want to, you can go home
Or else I'll go home

If you want to, you can go to my place
Or else, we'll go to your place

If you come, you'll see
If you come, you'll see

I don't know the other language or know what it means, sorry.

I love this song so much and I dont even know what is being said. I'm sure the lyrics are as beautiful as it sounds. Must look them up! Its just so powerful and gives me chills. I can see this song being the backdrop to some amazing action/love scene.

@truefact6232

Scene could be like a lover rescuing his girlfriend from the crutches of the villain and they are very strong and he knows it's his last journey he knows he can save her but it's highly unlikely that he would be returning back and then awesome swordfight in slow motion blood splattering and he rages with anger like a mad bull and meanwhile she rides and reaches far away finally to get mixed with the horizon and he is also dead at the same time with a wry smile in his face

Just goes to show you don’t need to understand the lyrics for a song to speak to you or resonate with you. I guess music has a universal language in itself.

Les paroles sont en pulaar, un des nombreux dialectes sénégalais parlé par le peuple Peul. Une très grande musique, qui me donne les larmes aux yeux à chaque fois :)
