So Beautiful
Murray Pete Lyrics

In the backyard of a friends place
Thinking about you
Thinking of the crowd you're in,
What you're up to, where you've been,
Just thinking
You know the clothes that you wear and the color in your hair
Now you tell me why is it so,
You're bigger than Mighty Joe
At least you think so
God my fingers burn,
Now when I think of touching your hair
You have changed so much that I don't know if I can call you and tell you I care
And I would love to bring you down, plant your feet back on the ground
Threw my smoke down on the ground
Turned my head and I heard the sound that reminded me
Of the days so young and sweet
Always so much fun to me,
At least I thought so
Now you think you're so damn fine,
You could rule the world,
No not mine,
I don't think so
God my fingers burn,
Now when I think of touching your hair
You have changed so much that I don't know if I can call you and tell you I care
And I would love to bring you down, plant your feet back on the ground
You know the scene that you're in and the people that you've been with
Just get to me
But you think I'm not as cool
As you are so beautiful,
Who you foolin'?
Well I'm here to tell you babe the game you're in is just a game, so damn pretentious
God my fingers burn,
Now when I think of touching your hair
You have changed so much that I don't know if I can call you and tell you I care
And I would love to bring you down, plant your feet back on the ground
You think you're so beautiful, so beautiful
In Murray Pete's "So Beautiful," the singer finds himself in a friend's backyard, thinking about a woman who has changed so much that he's not sure he can call her and tell her he cares. The woman seems to be caught up in a pretentious crowd, and the singer is frustrated that she thinks she's so much better than him. He longs to bring her down to earth, to remind her that the game she's playing is just a game, and that true beauty goes beyond appearances.
The first verse sets the scene and establishes the singer's thoughts about the woman he's thinking of. He's concerned about her and seems to long for the way things used to be between them. The second verse reveals some of his frustration with her, as he describes her as "bigger than Mighty Joe" and someone who thinks she could rule the world. He feels that she's changed so much that he doesn't even know if he can call her anymore. The chorus repeats the idea that the woman thinks she's so beautiful, and that the singer wants to bring her down to earth.
The third verse gets more specific about the crowd the woman is running with and how it frustrates the singer. He feels like she's not giving him the time of day because she thinks she's too good for him. The final chorus repeats the theme of the woman's misguided ideas about beauty and the singer's desire to bring her down to earth.
Overall, the song seems to be a critique of a society that values superficial appearances over true beauty, and a longing for a connection that goes beyond the surface.

Simone, my love...
My life was changed from the first moment I laid eyes on you, and your sweet voice was the most gorgeous thing I've ever heard.
This is the last song I ever sang with you while you strummed your guitar.
You are never too far from my mind. Everywhere I look it's like something reminds me of you. I miss you every day and love you still.
A more beautiful soul, generous heart, and fighting spirit I have not known. There are pieces of my heart that were simply always yours, and I will love you forever.
I am so thankful for the love you gave, the kindness you showed, and I have no doubt that you knew just how much you will always mean to me. I did, do, and will always love you. Rest in peace, my darling.

One of the best songs ever. Our Aussie songwriters are so under rated.

Honestly not sure how he didn’t become big with this song.
@transittimes2008
He got big here in Australia, clearly not international, but always an Aussie star.
You find that the songs that sound ridiculous are the ones that get more attention. This song is a masterpiece though.
@retroguy95
@@OfAngelsAndAnarchist what a load of absolute crap "Australia doesn't really have great art" what an ignorant and just plain wrong statement.
@dragon13304
I was surprised to hear this song on an America TV Show (One Tree Hill), I didn't think it got any airplay outside of Australia and New Zealand. They still play this regularly on Aussie radio stations such as Triple M, amazing track! One of faves from the 00s
