Pillars
My Anh Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

My mind is onto something
Been taking time with all this loving
God knows men tried
But ya can't buy time
Mama said it wouldn't be easy
I didn't mind the height, as long as the pillar's high
Maybe we don't need to try to understand
It's getting late, it's getting

You don't have to say it
I don't wanna hear it anyways
Why waste your time on this bullshit?
'Cause energy ain't for free
What's the use?
You don't have to say it
I won't even listen anyways
'Cause take a look at how much I've grown
Take a look at how much I learned to

Fly
Lately, I've been trying to find a peace of mind (a peace of mind)
Redefine (redefine)
Trying to know what we got inside is something divine
(Is something divine)

Let me tell you, you were such a dream to me
Only took seconds to sweep me off my feet
But infatuation for the occasion, now, what's the use?
Didn't mind reconstructing for you, baby
(Let me tell you, you were such a dream to me)
Used to go right down the paper bridge
For as long as I had the juice
I didn't mind simplifying for you

So you don't have to say it
I don't wanna hear it anyways
(I don't wanna hear it anyways)
'Cause energy ain't for free
What's the use?
You don't have to say it
I won't even listen anyways
'Cause take a look at how much I've grown
Take a look at how much I learned to

Fly (fly)
Lately, I've been trying to find a peace of mind (a peace of mind)
Redefine, tryna (redefine)
Trying to know what we got inside is something divine
(Is something divine)

For as long as the pillar's high
I'll be fine
For as long as the flowers bloom
Inside my room
For as long as the pillar's high
For as long as the flowers bloom
I'll be fine
Be fine, I'll be fine, I'll be fine
I'll be fine
Be fine, I'll be fine, I'll be fine

For as long as the pillar's high
I'll be fine
For as long as the flowers bloom
Inside my room
For as long as the pillar's high
For as long as the flowers bloom
I'll be fine
I'll be fine

For as long as the pillar's high

Overall Meaning

The song "Pillars" by My Anh speaks about personal growth and finding inner peace despite external obstacles. The first verse touches on the value of time and how it cannot be bought, implying that the singer has been taking their time with love and relationships. The line "Mama said it wouldn't be easy, I didn't mind the height as long as the pillar's high" suggests that the singer's mother warned them about the challenges of relationships, but the singer is willing to face it as long as their partner is supportive and stable like a pillar.

The following verse seems to address a conflict or disagreement between the singer and someone else. The singer is uninterested in listening to the other person's opinion or criticism, stating that energy is not free and shouldn't be wasted on negativity. The bridge then shifts back to the singer's personal journey towards finding inner peace and discovering something divine within themselves. They note that someone they were once infatuated with was a dream to them, but the relationship didn't work out. The singer was willing to change for that person, but it ultimately didn't work out.

The chorus repeats multiple times, emphasizing the importance of having a stable foundation ("pillar") and blooming within oneself. The line "For as long as the flowers bloom inside my room, I'll be fine" suggests that the singer's happiness and well-being depend on their own growth and personal journey, rather than external factors.

Have the juice (idiom): have authority, power, respect.
Pillars (as she explained in an interview): mental stability, someone or something to hold onto.

The song talks about how she is certain about herself, not letting people's words affect her confidence. "I won't listen", "don't say", "what's the use"

Yet, she is willing to learn, grow, redefine,... long as she has the juice. She won't lose herself for other's opinion.

This song has a significant personal meaning to her, which describe her journey to overcome critisism.

quite confused with the lyrics. it seems to me that those thoughts implied in the lyrics are very fragmented, preventing me from interpreting the song. the metaphor of "pillar" and "juice" is hard to get too. The lyric is unlikely to be written from a self -proclaimed feminist advocate though, as a singer used to claim and take action on her SNS (willing to take off jeans to show off your butt, proving "my body my choice") . Such things like "reconstructing for you, simplifying for you" are so sad for a self-claimed feminist. Really pitiful and hopeless. Being a feminist, it's better for her to be strong in your mental state by walking away someone that doesn't like her rather than taking off some clothes. Anyway, this is a very sad song for girls who lose their soul, hoping to get a boy. and also, the composer should work more on English creative writing.

@mulobimbim

@@dld32012 'simplifying for you' doesn't stand alone. It's "DIDN'T MIND simplifying for you as long as I have the juice", which is a metaphor. Go digest the lyrics carefully before you jugde.

@dld32012

@@mulobimbim thanks. but one more question, hope you don't mind, what does "DIDN'T MIND simplifying for you as long as I have the juice" metaphorically mean?

@emmylavender7085

@@dld32012 other sentences use present tense. 'let me tell you, you were such a dream to me...' this sentence use past tense, which means that in the past, she used to 'reconstruct' or 'redefine' herself as long as she 'has the juice', as long as she has the power and/or authority. but she now realizes it was all infatuation, it was not real and true and so she decided to just be herself because well...what's the use in being someone you're not? so one advice for u dude: pay attenstion to the context, otherwise saying things you don't really understand is a bit...pathetic, don't you think...?
p/s seriously no offence i just wanna make things clear for u
