My Chemical Romance Lyrics

the sword and the faith
Swelled up from the rain clouds
Move like a wraith
Well after all, will I another day?
And through it all, we'll find some other way
To carry on through cartilage and fluid
And did you come to stare or wash away the blood?
Well tonight, well tonight will it ever come?
Spend the rest of your days rockin' out
Just for the dead
Well tonight, will it ever come?
I can see you awake anytime in my head
Did we all fall down?
Did we all fall down?
Did we all fall down?
Did we all fall down?
From the lights to the pavement
From the van to the floor
From backstage to the doctor
From the earth to the morgue
Morgue, morgue, morgue!
Well tonight, will it ever come?
Spend the rest of your days rockin' out just for the dead
Well tonight, will it ever come?
I can see you wake anytime in my head
All fall down, well after all...
The lyrics to My Chemical Romance's previously unreleased song Desert Song discuss the struggle to persevere and find hope in the face of adversity. The opening lines, "We hold in our hearts the sword and the faith, swelled up from the rain clouds, move like a wraith" suggest that the singer and those they are addressing have a steadfast determination and strength that is renewed like rain. However, this strength is tested as the singer expresses uncertainty about whether they will "see another day," and it is implied that there has been bloodshed they may either be responsible for or confronted with witnessing.
As the song progresses, the questioning continues with the line "Did we all fall down?" which could be interpreted as wondering if they and those around them have faltered or given up in their struggles. Despite this questioning, however, there is an undercurrent of determination and hope to persevere throughout the rest of the song. The repeated line "Well tonight, will it ever come?" suggests a longing for sustained hope and a better future. The final repetition of "All fall down" could be seen as a plea to unite and support each other through tough times rather than give up.
