It was a head shot
You know you gave me the gun
Oh please, just hide me now
I won't tell a soul
It was the worst part
What you did to this little girl
Oh please, don′t leave me now
Emily, you're far from home
And Emily, we′ll figure if I could figure it out
We′ll both never be afraid
Emily, come home
It was the last time I saw her alive
Sometimes you do things
You need to do to survive
Oh please, don't leave me now
I′ll miss you so much
Oh please, don't go away
I′m needing your touch
But please don't leave me now
Baby, please don′t go away
Emily, you're far from home
And Emily, we'll figure if I could figure it out
We′ll both never be afraid
Emily, come home
Come home
Come home
Come home
Now Emily, you′re far from home
And Emily, we'll figure if I could figure it out
We′ll both never be afraid
And Emily, come home
Now Emily, come home
Now Emily, come home
Now Emily, come home
I'd like to hear that
See if the tempo is good, ya know?
(Yeah)
Yeah, I wanna listen
In the lyrics of My Chemical Romance's song "Emily," the singer reflects on a traumatic event involving someone named Emily. The opening lines express deep regret and guilt for something terrible that was done. The imagery of a "head shot" and being given a gun suggests a metaphorical betrayal or harm inflicted by the other person. The singer pleads for forgiveness and salvation, promising not to reveal the secrets that have transpired.
The chorus shifts the focus to Emily herself, acknowledging her distance from home and the need to figure out a way to navigate the challenges they face together. Despite the fear and uncertainty, there is a sense of solidarity and support in facing their shared struggles. The repeated calls for Emily to come home convey a longing for her presence and comfort in the midst of turmoil.
As the lyrics progress, it becomes clear that Emily may be in danger or facing a difficult situation, as the singer recalls the last time they saw her alive and the sacrifices made for survival. The desperation and sorrow in the words reveal the deep emotional connection between the singer and Emily, emphasizing the importance of her presence in their lives.
The final verses intensify the plea for Emily to return home, emphasizing the need for her companionship and strength in facing the unknown. The repetition of the lines "Emily, come home" underscores the longing and urgency in the singer's voice, seeking resolution and solace in the midst of turmoil. The song captures the complexities of relationships, regrets, and the quest for understanding and reconciliation.

@smallpotato5445
I don't know why, but this my "Mama" song.
It just clicks with my transition.
The "little girl" is my inner child,
the singer is my mama,
"Emily" who got away is me,
"the gun" are the autistic traits and traumatic reactions I have;
so I gave my mama the gun (hostility when coming out) to shoot me (rejected me when transitioning),
the inner child is now severely wounded, my mama is in shock and in grief,
and since I am withdrawn from her and my family, mama wants to "figure it out", so we don't have to "be afraid", and so I can "come home".
I don't think she's emotionally available to repair things, or ask me to come back, so it's nice to have this song.
I think the grief, lost and the longing just does it, this together with All The Angels just hits me like Mama but harder
@emilyd7528
we get it, your name is Emily and you feel special
@elisiaalvin7618

@loki8989
I don't like this song just because of that it's also beautiful like everything MCR creates.
@cloudsandstxrs5755
liked for the irony
@emmylikestea5581
Yes I feel special 😄
@slashersize
If anyone cares about the whole concept album thing, Emily is either a character in I brought you bullets or three cheers
@hrnancastillo
or maybe the paper kingdom who knows..
@jlewwis1995
I think it's from Three Cheers since the song To The End was apparently based on a poem called A Rose For Emily and it was both said on the MCR subreddit and on another comment here so it must be true :) So this song is basically a sequel to To The End. Which makes me think even more that TBP was originally going to be a sequel to Three Cheers (or maybe it technically is already?)
@KaffeineKittie
A Rose for Emily is actually a short story by William Faulkner about a woman who (probably) killed her fiancé and kept his decaying body in her bed where she slept every night.
