The band eclipsed their previous success with their 2006 concept album, The Black Parade, which gained generally favorable reviews among music critics. Their fourth studio album, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, was released on November 22, 2010, to positive reviews. The band's final release in their original run were a series of singles, released over the course of five months, collected on the compilation Conventional Weapons. The band announced its break-up on March 22, 2013, one month after the final release in the Conventional Weapons series. On March 25, 2014, the band released May Death Never Stop You: The Greatest Hits (2001–2013), a greatest hits album containing material spanning their entire career, as well as some previously unreleased material.
On Halloween of 2019, the band announced a comeback show in Los Angeles, California, and fans speculated that there was more to it than just a show. On November 5, three more shows were confirmed in Australia, New Zealand and Japan. On January 29, 2020, eighteen additional dates were announced in North America.
On May 12, 2022, the band released The Foundations Of Decay, solidifying their return as a band.

That I can't make you stay
But where's your heart?
But where's your heart?
But where's your
And I know
There's nothing I can say
To change that part
To change
So many
Bright lights that cast a shadow
But can I speak?
Well, is it hard understanding
I'm incomplete?
A life that's so demanding
I get so weak
A love that's so demanding
I can't speak
I am not afraid to keep on living
I am not afraid to walk this world alone
Honey, if you stay
I'll be forgiven
Nothing you can say can stop me going home
Can you see
My eyes are shining bright?
'Cause I'm out here
On the other side
Of a jet black
Hotel mirror
And I'm so weak
Is it hard understanding
I'm incomplete?
A love that's so demanding
I get weak
I am not afraid to keep on living
I am not afraid to walk this world alone
Honey, if you stay
I'll be forgiven
Nothing you can say can stop me going home
I am not afraid to keep on living
I am not afraid to walk this world alone
Honey, if you stay
I'll be forgiven
Nothing you can say can stop me going home
These bright lights have always blinded me
These bright lights have always blinded me
I say
I see you lying next to me
With words I thought I'd never speak
Awake and unafraid
Asleep or dead
'Cause I see you lying next to me
With words I thought I'd never speak
Awake and unafraid
Asleep or dead
'Cause I see you lying next to me
With words I thought I'd never speak
Awake and unafraid
Asleep or dead
'Cause I see you lying next to me
With words I thought I'd never speak
Awake and unafraid
Asleep or dead
I am not afraid to keep on living
I am not afraid to walk this world alone
Honey, if you stay
I'll be forgiven
Nothing you can say can stop me going home
I am not afraid to keep on living
I am not afraid to walk this world alone
Honey, if you stay
I'll be forgiven
Nothing you can say can stop me going home
I am not afraid to keep on living
I am not afraid to walk this world alone
Honey, if you stay
I'll be forgiven
Nothing you can say can stop me going home
The lyrics to My Chemical Romance's "Famous Last Words" are a powerful message of defiance and determination in the face of adversity. The song speaks of the singer's willingness to continue living and walking in this world, even when faced with the prospect of being alone. The opening lines set the stage for this message, as the singer acknowledges that they cannot make someone stay with them, but still asks where their heart is. The repeated refrain of "I am not afraid to keep on living / I am not afraid to walk this world alone" reinforces this message, emphasizing that the singer is willing to face any obstacle head on.
The song also touches on the idea that success often comes with a cost. The line "so many bright lights that cast a shadow" speaks to the pressure of living in the public eye, where even great success can bring with it a feeling of emptiness and unfulfillment. This sense of being incomplete is echoed throughout the song, as the singer describes feeling weak and unable to speak up against the demands of their life.
Ultimately, "Famous Last Words" is a song about the power of self-determination in the face of hardship. The lyrics speak to the idea that we are all capable of overcoming even the greatest challenges, so long as we are willing to stand up and face them head on.

The power of a line saying "I'm not afraid of keep on living, I am not afraid to walk this world alone". I love this band more and more as time pass

I keep thinking about that, and the reoccurring theme of 'continuing to live' in a time and genre that was almost the epitome of depression and death, gerard way was writing and creating impeccable music challenging listeners to just keep going. Amazing
