Daydream
My Kid Brother Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Only ever hood-rich in our dreams
We love to bleed through arteries
That let us leave on a ship called L.S.D
Let′s be the first to walk on the moonshine daydream

Let's pray the innocent
Don′t get devoured by the ignorant
If that's the way it goes
At least we'd die living the life we chose

I know you hate what you fear
But you′re just mad because we′re

Only ever hood-rich in our dreams
We love to bleed through arteries
That let us leave on a ship called L.S.D
Let's be the first to walk on the moonshine daydream

In this suburban bliss
We grew up feeling like we don′t exist
But that was long ago
We lit a fire and we watched it grow (grow)

(Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah)
(Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah)

I know you hate what you fear
But you're just mad because we′re (we're, we′re)

Only ever hood-rich in our dreams
We love to bleed through arteries
That let us leave on a ship called L.S.D
Let's be the first to walk on the moonshine daydream

Overall Meaning

My Kid Brother's song "Daydream" is a reflection on the real world versus the idealized version of it that exists in our dreams. The lyrics "only ever hood-rich in our dreams" suggest that the life we envision for ourselves, complete with wealth and success, is often unattainable. The desire to "leave on a ship called L.S.D" refers to a desire to escape, to leave the mundanity of daily life behind and experience something more profound. The goal is to be the "first to walk on the moonshine daydream," which is essentially a place of spiritual enlightenment.

The second verse takes a more somber tone, acknowledging the danger that exists in the real world. The line "Let's pray the innocent don't get devoured by the ignorant" is a plea to protect those who are vulnerable from those who take advantage of them. However, if the worst should happen, the singer suggests that they would rather go down fighting, living the life they chose. The bridge focuses on the concept of fear and how it can cause people to lash out against those who represent the things they are afraid of. The singer acknowledges this but suggests that the anger is misplaced.

In the chorus, the band returns to their central theme of the divide between reality and dreams. Bleeding through arteries is a metaphor for living life, making the most of the time we have. The line "Let us leave on a ship called L.S.D" is repeated, suggesting that the ultimate goal is still to achieve enlightenment and escape to a place where anything is possible.

These are my friends 💕 there's a lot of hate on this because they're not a typical fearless band and that's really shitty. Record labels should be able to sign whoever they believe in, even if it doesn't fit their typical "genre" or whatever. Carry on. 🥰
