The Dream Code
My Ticket Home Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I know that my time is short
And I know at this distance I can't afford to make everything worth my time
So I'll find a day and I'll make a display

All over town, go all around
And make everything go your way
I'll make every request and I'll make it my mess
As long as I push you away

I don't need you to tell me the way
'Cause I know that I'm here to stay
Don't tell me to leave while I'm resting, at peace
When I have to go I'm spending my time alone

Oh I know that my time is short
And I know with this patience I can afford to make everything worth my time
So I'll make it a day and I'll run my parade

All over town, go all around
And make everything go your way
I'll make every request and I'll make it my mess
As long as I push you away

I don't need you to tell me the way
'Cause I know that I'm here to stay

Don't tell me to leave while I'm resting, at peace
When I have to go I'm spending my time alone

Overall Meaning

The Dream Code by My Ticket Home is a song about the singer's realization that time is precious and limited. Throughout the song, the message conveyed is that the singer needs to make the most of their time and prioritize what's important in their life. They accept the fact that they can't please everyone and that they have to make difficult decisions, even if it means pushing people away. The chorus emphasizes the importance of taking control of one's life and making everything go their way, without the interference of outside influences directing them down a different path.

The line, "Don't tell me to leave while I'm resting, at peace," suggests that the singer is content with their current state of being and isn't willing to leave until they're ready. They want to spend their remaining time alone, focusing on their personal goals rather than being swayed by others. The song's title, The Dream Code, may refer to the singer's desire to live life on their own terms and follow their dreams.

This is what I love to hear from a band. I loved In Fear And Faith's "Your World On Fire" album because it sounds so original and unique and it blended well with piano and violin and such. Though this isn't a blend of post-hardcore/metal and classical instruments in a song, I still love it for the passion that it conveys. This song is a favorite.
