My Bubba started out as My Bubba & Mi) (and was then a trio). Their debut album How it's done in Italy was released in 2010.
Goes Abroader, released in 2014, was recorded in LA's Seahorse Sound Studios and House of Blues Studios. The duo worked with Noah Georgeson, who previously produced albums for Joanna Newsom and Devendra Banhart.
2016's Big Bad Good was recorded as the songs were written at Figure 8 Recording, the studio of producer Shahzad Ismaily, in a collaborative attempt to 'capture the unrefined intimacy of a newly written song'. The album was released on the duo's own label Cash Only.
The two girls; My from Sweden and Bubba from Iceland, met by chance in Copenhagen, joined vocals and suitcases and have been traveling together since, singing their contemporary folk songs all around Europe and the United States. Initially they were a band (My Bubba & Mi). My Bubba is the continuation of that band: My and Bubba as a duo.
Their songs are sparse, allowing their delicate voices and entrancing harmonies to take center stage, sharing stories of their adventurous spirit in alluringly sultry sounds.
My Bubba’s second full length album, Goes Abroader, came out in April 2014. It was recorded in California and produced by Noah Georgeson (Devendra Banhart, Joanna Newsom). The songs were written during Scandinavian winter months and dream of warm, exotic places. Each one works as a souvenir or postcard from an imaginary jungle, desert or galaxy, making the record something of a trip around the world.
In 2017 the duo released Gone/You're gonna make me lonesome when you go.
