As a child of two he stumped the authorities with his deep knowledge of the intricacies of South India's classical music. His is a family of musicians; his father (Ravikiran's first teacher) and his late grandfather being excellent gottuvadyam players.
He is active in performance, and creates intercultural music with a fine aesthetic sense.
He is the elder sibling of Sashikiran, a vocalist and co-founder of Srishti's CARNATICA - the pioneering portal for all things Carnatic, Hindustani and a premier learning organization.
