Since it's release in early January, NLE Choppa's "Shotta Flow" video has amassed more than 12 million views in nearly six weeks. The visual for his breakout record shows a precocious youth who is just as adept at dancing as he is at swinging choppas.
His flows and stylistic choices recall his friend and fellow hometown rapper BlocBoy JB. Yet Choppa is unique. His intensity, voice and dark sense of humor set him apart from the fray. His follow-up record, "Shotta Flow 2," is approaching 2 million views in under a week.
Always business-savvy, Choppa turned down a $3 million dollar deal and opted for a partnership with UnitedMasters, a company that distributes his music while allowing him to keep his masters. With an EP coming in the spring and more videos on the way, the young artist's name is everywhere, even catching the attention of legendary rap mogul Birdman, who he's been spotted sharing studio time with.

Everybody stand up if you ever had your back up against the wall (d.a. got that dope)
And had to fight back
This yo' anthem (yeah)
My view from the top of the moon (space)
I can see the whole world sittin' in my hand, amazin' view (let's go)
We finna break the rules (let's go)
I can't fall or slip, I gotta stand tall, that's what a leader do (a leader do)
Follow me, I'm leadin' you (one, two, three, let's go)
Ayy, we finna turn up
Crank up the heat in here, they finna burn up
Told 'em I'm comin', I'm here
Tell 'em they time up
I said it once, I'ma say it again, "This here be my year" (this here be my year)
I ain't gon' show no fear
I know that I'm built, too equipped for what God want me to do
I'm number one, not the two
It ain't no way I'ma lose (way I'ma lose)
I hate to struggle, but it made me harder (made me harder)
I made it far, but I wanna go farther (wanna go farther)
This not for me, this for my son and my daughter
My family tree in that order (in that order)
I'm the chosen one, I'm wearin' that jacket (wearin' that jacket)
I was down, now I'm up
Now I was the underdog, now look who be laughin'
I'm better than who you gassin', and
The champions (champions), the champions (champions)
Ayy, we gon' ball never fall, the champions (champions)
The champions (champions), the champions (champions)
Ayy, we gon' ball, never fall, I put my head up
And told 'em, "Crown me"
My ring finger got a rock on it, rock on it
I put my head up
And told 'em, "Crown me"
My ring finger got a rock on it, rock on it, rock on it
Threw dirt on my name, tried to bury me (bury me)
Threw salt on me like they was seasoning
Now, this my season
Weathered every storm that was in my way
But promise you, it wasn't easy (wasn't easy)
Took some patience and grievin'
I was believin' when no one believe me (hey, hey, hey, hey)
I was believin' when no one believe me (let's go)
Now they got to see me from the nose bleed or the front row
I don't care what seat
Dreams to reality, I'm too real for reality TV
Remember I was piss poor, now I'm writin' this song from a balcony
Told 'em, "Watch out for me"
But they ain't see me comin', now they road kill (road kill)
Know what long nights on that road feel like
Keep pushin', even though we don't feel right (it don't feel right)
Blood, sweat, and tears just to live life
Talked to God even when I didn't see light (didn't see light)
Still talk to him when it got bright
Dark days, but made for the spotlight
We paid, now mama can sleep tight
Champions (champions), the champions (champions, told 'em crown me)
Ayy, we gon' ball never fall, the champions (mm-hmm)
The champions (champions), the champions (champions)
Ayy, we gon' ball never fall, I put my head up
And told 'em, "Crown me"
My ring finger got a rock on it, rock on it
I put my head up
And told 'em, "Crown me"
My ring finger got a rock on it, rock on it, rock on it
So we put our head up
Ring finger got a rock on it, rock on it, rock on it
So we put our head up (ayy, yeah-ah)
Ring finger got a rock on it, rock on it, rock on it
So we put our head up
We gon' ball, never fall
Got a rock on it, rock on it
The champions, the champions
Ayy, we gon' ball never fall, the champions
The champions, the champions
Ayy, we gon' ball never fall, I put my head up
And told 'em, "Crown me"
My ring finger got a rock on it, rock on it
I put my head up
And told 'em, "Crown me"
My ring finger got a rock on it, rock on it, rock on it
