NOF4 take life in Volterra, medieval city in Tuscany famous for its history… Read Full Bio ↴NOF4 take life in Volterra, medieval city in Tuscany famous for its history, in the beginning of 2002. The native nucleus of the band is constituted by Enrico (guitar), Amerigo (voice) and Thomas (bass), attracted by the idea to form a band devoted to Gothic, Dark and Metal sonorities. Quickly the three organize the first tests to which also participate Luca (keyboards) and Matteo (drums), constituting so NOF4. In little time the band succeeds in composing some unpublished songs and to get by some covers to be able to have live exhibitions. This happens soon in Volterra during the annual summer festival of emergent musical bands, where the band pick up positive criticisms and appreciations from the friends and from the components of the numerous local bands. In September David (guitar) enter in the lineup. The graft of a second guitarist exquisitely derives from a stylistic choice, it's required to add to the songs more dynamism and more impact, thing that was difficult to do with just one guitar. Shortly time the correct amalgam is created and the further arrangement of the songs proceeds. This brings soon NOF4 to the recording of the first selfproduced cd, made with the help of Stefano Toncelli, poliedric musician and sound engineer of Volterra. "Days of Sorrow" is the title of the cd born in the March 2003, containing 8 tracks, result of the first compositions of the band. The cd receives encouraging criticisms from numerous internet sites as EUTK.NET, HARDSOUNDS.IT, SILENTSCREAMZINE.COM where is reviewed. This takes the boys to look for places where to perform concerts, to improve the live session skill and to widen the number of friends and supporters; the objective is reached even if it falls through more times the possibility to play on stages more suitable for the proposed music genre. In this phase it is necessary the substitution of Matteo behind the drums. The motivations are various and they make this step difficult to make... but the way's marked... NOF4 looks for a drummer that could be able to give a greater contribution to the rhythmic session and Guido (ex Gas Punk) seems to perfectly embody these characteristics. He gets into the band very easily and he contributes to a further breakthrough, that allows immediately to develop an ampler live session, and to give life to the new compositions that meanwhile were already taking form. Some months have passed since then, and the recording of the new material, foreseen for December 2003, is postponed for a long time for problems of various kind. Finally, in April 2004, NOF4 contact the WESTLINK STUDIOS (GF93, CAPPANERA, RAW POWER, PROZAC +) and settles the date for the beginning of the works. On May 25th 2004 they begin the recording of "The Eternal Sleep."
