Do people
Lie?
Where, oh where
Do people
Come from?
When they take you down
Into tiny pieces
As they watch you drown
But I won't stop
But I won't stop
But I won't stop
I won't stop
Truth
Be known
I have died
And reborn
Their
Control
Won't trample
My soul
Cause I've made of stone
And I'm not alone
I would do it all again
Than to never know
Cause I won't stop
Cause I won't stop
No I won't stop
I won't stop
Cause I won't stop
Cause I won't stop
No I won't stop
I won't stop
Cause I won't stop
Cause I won't stop
No I won't stop
I won't stop
The lyrics of "People" by Nadia Ali touch upon the themes of betrayal, perseverance, and ultimately finding strength in the face of adversity. The chorus of the song, "But I won't stop," is a defiant and empowering message, reflecting the singer's refusal to let the actions of others bring them down. The first stanza of the song asks two questions: "Why, oh why, do people lie?" and "Where, oh where, do people come from?" These questions are likely rhetorical and serve to illustrate the singer's frustration with the deceitful actions of others.
The second stanza of the song explores the aftermath of betrayal and pain, with the lyrics describing being broken down into "tiny pieces" and watched as they "drown." Despite the difficult situation, the singer remains resolute and determined, repeating their refusal to give up with the line "I won't stop." The final stanza of the song describes the singer as being made of stone and not alone, indicating their newfound strength and ability to rise above the harm caused by others.
Overall, "People" is a song that speaks to the human experience of grappling with difficult emotions and experiences caused by others, but ultimately finding the strength to overcome them.
