Madre
Narco & Reincidentes Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Enarbolando dignidad

Silueta, catedral, campanas why reloj

why mañana seguirán tapándole los ojos
Al cielo para que no vuelva a llorar
Van cruzando este destino

Entre ignorancia why valor,
Luz en la oscuridad, las madres del amor

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of the song "Madre" by Narco & Reincidentes contain powerful imagery and introspective themes related to resilience, memory, and the struggle for justice. The first paragraph paints a picture of dignity being upheld by those who have been conquered, symbolizing a defiance against oppression and injustice. The mention of "opening paths between dreams and horror" suggests a journey filled with both hope and fear, where new life is brought forth despite the attempts to extinguish it. The reference to a photo that watches over us "forever young" serves as a reminder of the timeless presence of past struggles in our lives.

The second paragraph delves into the ongoing fight for justice and remembrance, as individuals continue to carry the fire in their hearts, determined to burn away forgetfulness, silence, and the need for forgiveness. There is a vivid description of people metaphorically jumping over the puddles of pain that have bled, spreading faith and love like a nurturing force that transcends suffering. The image of "mothers of love" suggests a nurturing and protective energy emanating from those who have known hardship and loss.

The third paragraph delves into the contrast between the supposed sanctity of religious figures imprisoned by the constraints of unjust systems, while killers bask in the sunlight without consequence. The notion of ignored screams echoing through voiceless years and the imagery of silhouettes, cathedrals, bells, and clocks evoke a haunting atmosphere of injustice and entrapment. The lyrics suggest a haunting sense of injustice and pain lingering in the shadows of society, with the promise that all cries for justice will eventually resound with echoes of truth.

Lastly, the fourth paragraph speaks to the perpetuation of denial and blindness towards suffering and injustice, as individuals continue to shield their eyes from the pain of the past. The mention of crossing destinies amidst ignorance and valor hints at a continual struggle for understanding and courage in the face of adversity. The imagery of light in darkness symbolizes hope and guidance, with the enduring presence of the "mothers of love" standing as beacons of compassion and strength amid turmoil. Ultimately, the song conveys a message of resilience, awareness, and the enduring power of memory and love in the face of oppression and injustice.
