Blue Hawaii
Nathan Aweau Lyrics

The lyrics of Nathan Aweau's song "Blue Hawaii" tell a story of two friends who are taking a leisurely drive to the beach to get shaved ice. The singer of the song has recently gotten his driver's license, which he thinks might surprise his friend. On the way, the two stop at a convenience store to browse and take a break. The singer is feeling lazy today and just wants to relax, unlike his restless friend. They stop at a service area and eat ramen, with the singer not liking it but his friend enjoying it. Afterwards, they drink coffee and admire the view of the mountains. The song ends with the singer wishing for a more fulfilling friendship, as the wind outside only sings a lonely tune.

Wow! I bet Peter Moon and Roland Cazimero are smiling down at this amazing performance. For those of you who may not know that this is a cover, the original classic rendition is by the Sunday Mānoa - Peter Moon and Robert & Roland Cazimero. For those of us who remember the beginnings of the Hawaiian Renaissance in the 1970s, the first few notes of this song are instantly recognizable, and what a departure it was from the traditional Hawaiian chant. If you like this music, check out the Sunday Mānoaʻs groundbreaking and iconic album, "Guava Jam" (which has its own Wikipedia description) and "Cracked Seed,"
