Picture him just back from a scientific mission, after a long trip on a solitary icebreaker, wearing this insufficiently protective parka, opening up a sealed box in which he collected small life scraps, which he will now decipher before handing them out to us.
From explorations in another universe, Neeskens returns bearing songs ethereal and earthly, rugged and gentle; strangely fit for a nomadic life midway between mountaintops and holy grounds.
The double vowel is a testimonial to his wandering spirits. Born in Groenlo in the Guelders province, stronghold of the Hapsburg House, Territory of the Holy Roman Empire and the Spanish Netherlands, Neeskens went on to his own discovery of the New World, disembarking in Canada, where the English language, natural beauty and the piano formed his spirits and education.
If the Old World finally allured him back, Neeskens never forgot the severe charms of biting cold and heavy snow, and the aesthetics of hard work. He therefore settled in Annecy, capital of the feudal territory of the House of Savoy, home of the Arts and Culture, where no effort is spared. With new instruments, he started to explore other landscapes, either more intimate or more vertical.
Guitars, singing and writing soon joined the piano, all of which were then furrowed by the crystalline elements typical of the Alps: air, earth and fire.
Neeskens’ music, as much as his own life, is akin to a crossroads. Here is an abundance of colours, lives, places, traces and questions. His music does not scream for attention, but it will grab you by its emotional qualities. It is that small light guiding you at night to the end of the road, back to the warmth of Home. Its melancholy is sweet and comforting, as protective as Groenlo’s walls on the sleeve of his record.
Neeskens’ shadows reveal other spirits created by solitary creators, such as Nick Drake, Elliott Smith, Andrew Bird or Damien Rice: a never-ending tradition of craftsmen honing their art. His melodies will long continue to bear us in needful times, and bewitch us as we hurry back home to put the needle down on his record again.

I feel blind and I crash to the ground, frozen so long.
Winter comes, comes in my mind, in my soul and I just can't move why did you go away?
Nature's the law
Give me an avalanche of love, give me an avalanche of love
Give me an avalanche of love, give me an avalanche of love
I don't know where you, where you've been in my sorrow
Give me an avalanche of love, give me an avalanche of love
Give me an avalanche of love, give me an avalanche of love
If you go should I, if you go should I follow
Life was cold, until you came in my heart, in my mind, oh please
Don't leave me now, stay by my side
Christmas Day will be the last chance for you to make my dream come true
Oh please stay by my side, I'll be your guide
Give me an avalanche of love, give me an avalanche of love
Give me an avalanche of love, give me an avalanche of love
I don't know where you, where you've been in my sorrow
Give me an avalanche of love, give me an avalanche of love
Give me an avalanche of love, give me an avalanche of love
If you go should I, if you go should I follow
The song "Avalanche" by Neeskens uses the metaphor of an avalanche to represent the overwhelming power and force of love. The lyrics describe the deep sadness and winter-like coldness that the singer feels after a loved one has gone away. The snow falling down deep inside the heart represents the depth of the pain and the feeling of being frozen in time. The asking for an avalanche of love is a plea for the power of love to be stronger than the pain, and for the person to come back and stay by their side. The line "nature's the law" suggests that just as an avalanche is controlled by the laws of nature, love is also something that cannot be fully controlled or predicted.
The chorus repeats the plea for an avalanche of love and questions whether the singer should follow if the loved one decides to go again. The lyric "Life was cold, until you came in my heart, in my mind" shows that the loved one brought warmth and love into the singer's life, and the fear of losing that is the reason for the desperate plea for their return. The use of "Christmas Day" as the last chance for the dream to come true implies that there is a timeline or deadline for the relationship to work, and the singer's devotion is urgent.
Overall, "Avalanche" is a heartfelt plea for love to overpower pain and for a loved one to stay by the singer's side. The use of the avalanche metaphor vividly captures the depth and power of emotions involved in a relationship, while also acknowledging the uncontrollable and unpredictable nature of love.
