* 2) An early new wave band which was part of the English musical scene originated by punk in the 1970s. The group was formed by the American-born singer Ian North, who was the frontman and the only continuous member from the band formation in 1977 to the end in 1979.
In 1976, Ian North (lead vocals, guitar) travelled with the band Milk 'N' Cookies for which he was the guitarist, to London to record a new album but they never made it and the group took separate ways. Only North stayed in London, meeting Brian Eno and Martin Gordon (bass), who a few years previously had founded, with ex John's Children's Andy Ellison, the glam band Jet. North created a new band called Radio and invited Paul Simon (drums), who formed part of Limmie Funk Limited (with Limmie Snell) to join them and completed the line-up. The band was post-punk, but after only one gig, supporting Ultravox! in November 1976, Gordon dropped out. The band recruited George Dyner to replace Gordon, but in April 1977, North took his place on bass and continuing singing, and Paul's brother Robert was introduced on guitar.
According to Paul Simon, Radio (nowadays credited as Ian North's Radio) recorded some songs in the studio, which he remastered in 2007. In mid 1977, Paul Simon accompanied Martin Gordon, forming part of Radio Stars and recording with them "Good Personality", a 7" single, and other tracks, some of which were eventually released on Radio Stars' compilation "Somewhere There's A Place For Us". He was asked to stay with them, but preferred continuing with North in Neo.
Neo
As a three piece band, Radio immediately transformed to Neo. North became the bassist, and in this way the group continued until February/March 1978, when Robert Simon dropped out and formed part of Ultravox. North sacked Paul Simon, and included session players in his project: ex-ZZebra members, Steve Byrd on guitar and John McCoy on bass, and Bryson Graham on drums. They recorded an album in Ian Gillan's studio, and after Gillan heard them, he hired Byrd and McCoy away from North. Gillan and the ex-Neo musicians formed Gillan. Only Graham stayed with North.
North renewed Neo again with Steve Wilkin (ex-Wired and Masterwitch) on guitar, Nick South on bass and Graham on drums, but shortly afterwards South and Graham were replaced by Mik Sweeney and Derek Quinton, respectively. Later Dan Black completed the line-up as keyboardist. That line-up toured with Magazine, doing gigs promoting their single "Tran-Sister", released that year.
After changes of line-ups, Neo split up in 1979 because North had to return to the US. Sweeney joined The News and, later, Classix Nouveaux, Steve Wilkin joined Random Hold, Quinton joined Sector 27, with Tom Robinson, and Black formed Psychic TV.
Following his return to the US, Ian North became a hairdresser and artist.

Neo Lyrics

coffee, tea & water change places in my mouth
Reasoning and credos
patterns & confessions stir up my mind
I've learnt to read your mind too
and I said 'oh my God, what's in that head!?'
Oh how I read your mind wow-how
I tell you, my dear friend, you need help too
I choose change
to rearrange
to fit my new mind into a new shape
I change
to loosen brakes
to grow in faith
I know the road
I follow new ways
Going back high in the past
the old, the antic only for self-defense
I forgot to tell myself to change direction
rather go for higher sense
I've learnt to read your mind too
and I said 'oh my God, what's in that head!?'
Oh how I read your mind wow-how
I can tell no difference, you need help too
Do not worry
your demons disappear
your heart is strong
your body's tough
Don't you worry
for what you need is here
it's coming soon
it's coming now
I choose change...
In the first verse of Neo's song "Change," the lyrics depict a daily routine of consumption and introspection. The mention of breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as coffee, tea, and water, symbolizes the mundane aspects of life that can be easily altered or rotated. The shift and interchange of these basic necessities in the mouth hint at a desire for change and variety in one's experiences. The mention of reasoning, credos, patterns, and confessions stirring up the mind suggests a deeper contemplation and self-examination process. The singer claims to have learned to read someone else's mind, expressing surprise and concern at the thoughts and complexities found within. This realization leads to the acknowledgment that both the singer and their friend are in need of help, emphasizing a shared struggle and a call for transformation.
The following verse delves deeper into the theme of change and transformation. The singer expresses a deliberate choice to embrace change, to rearrange their thoughts and beliefs, and to adapt to a new mindset. This process is described as loosening brakes and growing in faith, indicating a willingness to break free from limitations and uncertainties in order to evolve and progress. By acknowledging the familiarity of certain patterns and behaviors from the past, the lyrics suggest a conscious decision to break away from old habits and embrace new directions for personal growth. The repetition of the line "I've learnt to read your mind too" underscores the theme of empathy and understanding, as well as the interconnectedness of individuals in their struggles and journeys towards change.
The third verse shifts the focus to reassurance and encouragement. The singer speaks to the listener, urging them not to worry as their inner demons will fade, emphasizing the resilience of the heart and body. The repetition of the phrase "Do not worry" reinforces a message of hope and trust in the process of transformation and renewal. The assurance that what is needed is already present or on its way suggests a sense of faith and certainty in the unfolding of positive change and growth. These lines convey a sense of support and solidarity, reminding the listener that they are not alone in their quest for change and self-improvement.
Overall, the song "Change" by Neo explores the themes of introspection, empathy, transformation, and encouragement. Through vivid imagery and introspective musings, the lyrics invite listeners to reflect on their own experiences of change and growth, highlighting the shared struggles and aspirations that connect individuals on their respective journeys. The underlying message of embracing change, letting go of past limitations, and trusting in the process of personal evolution resonates as a universal call to courage and self-discovery.

Uramég! Ezt nevezik minőségi zenének! Nem az ilyen Ramiknak meg egyéb szőke nyivákolóknak kéne a Cometet rendezni, szörnyű miket próbálnak lenyeletni a népekkel egyes csatornák zene néven.
