On And On
Nervous Breakdown Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The lyrics of Nervous Breakdown's song "On And On" are a commentary on the frustrating and cyclical nature of political discourse. The songwriter expresses their anger towards the perceived hypocrisy of authority figures such as cops, teachers, and government officials who they feel are constantly creating problems and placing blame on others. However, the songwriter acknowledges that this situation is unlikely to change; they assert that those who do not participate in the political game will never win. The songwriter admits to being savvy to the political posturing of those in power, recognizing that they claim to want to change the world, but ultimately lack the ability to do so. The writer bemoans the endless arguments that ensue and the waste of energy and breath that goes along with it, hence the repetition of the phrase "on and on and on and on."
The song resonates with those who feel frustrated with the political process and the seemingly never-ending cycle of complaints and debate. The songwriter's blunt and disillusioned tone communicates a sense of resignation towards the situation but also a desire to not be taken for granted.

@Conrad Antonio It's just distraction though buddy it's not tackling whatever is causing ur stress. I've tried movies, walking 5 miles a day, watching YouTube videos nonestop and so on... Nothing ever seems to work so I take dizaepam from the streets to block the stress. That works but I've become an addict and are reliant on it. So personally I don't think there's a cure for it. It's probably hard wired in our DNA.
