Neuroticfish’s sole member was Sascha Mario Klein. Klein cites his musical inspirations as such bands as Skinny Puppy, Nine Inch Nails, and Depeche Mode, and began experimenting with music on his own in the early 90’s. After Neuroticfish was born, Klein did not make the typical efforts of a muscian to send out a demo; instead, he relied on the internet as a medium of expression for his music. Klein was eventually offered a place on a synthpop compilation called A Reflexion of Synthpop. From this point on, Neuroticfish gained popularity in the club scene, where he has made an impact ever since.
Klein gained a bit of notoriety after one of his songs contained the sample "Electronic body music is dead." It has since become somewhat of a catchphrase for Neuroticfish.
On January 4th 2008 the official Neuroticfish MySpace page had a message announcing that the band would cease to exist after its performance at the 2008 edition of the Wave Gothic Treffen festival in Leipzig, Germany.
In July 2012 the website was updated after the project seemed finished. The latest updates say that Sascha and Henning Verlage are working together during Winter 2012 and Spring 2013 on a new album.
In 2015 Neuroticfish released "A Sign Of Life", his first album in 10 years. It is exclusively sold at the band's page at Bandcamp, digitally, and physical albums only being sold at Neuroticfish's regular web page.
Why Don't You Hate Me?
Neuroticfish Lyrics

The first rays of sunlight reflecting in your tear
You said what you can't handle, and never did before
I know you used to love me, but now I'm not so sure
Why don't you hate me?
I sit and watch the moonlight breaking through the trees
Maybe you don't need me, and never did before
But now you have to hate me, cuz this is what I'm for
Why don't you hate me?
As I begin to wonder what has happened here
My sudden disappointment slowly disappears
I remember all you mentioned, and never did before
I wanted you to hate me, but now I'm not so sure
Why don't you hate me?
Tell me why, why don't you hate me?
Tell me why
Why don't you hate me?
(Hate me, hate me)
The lyrics to "Why Don't You Hate Me?" by Neuroticfish tell a story of a relationship falling apart. The singer is watching the transition from darkness to sunlight, representing the transition from the good times of the relationship to the bad. The first rays of sunlight reflect in the tears of the person they were in a relationship with, symbolizing the pain and hurt caused by their separation. The line "you said what you can't handle, and never did before" suggests that the person could not handle the difficulties in the relationship and expresses regret for not seeing it sooner.
As the singer watches the moonlight breaking through the trees, it feels as though it is revealing its disease, much like the relationship was revealing its flaws. The singer realizes that the person they were in the relationship with might not have needed them, and perhaps never did. The chorus of the song asks the question "why don't you hate me?" The singer is asking why they are not receiving hatred or anger from the person they were in a relationship with, as it would be easier to move on if they knew where they stood with that person.
The second verse highlights the singer's realization that they wanted the other person to hate them, but now they are not sure. It seems as though the singer is struggling with the pain and confusion of a relationship ending, and they are not sure where to go from here. The chorus repeats the question of why the other person does not hate them, which leaves the singer with more questions than answers.
Overall, the lyrics to "Why Don't You Hate Me?" express the pain and confusion of a relationship coming to an end. The imagery of the changing light from darkness to sunlight and moonlight is a powerful metaphor for the transition from a good relationship to a bad one.
