Since I've heard about a better home
Ever since I learned about Heaven, a place that is better than this world, I have been longing to leave this world behind.

I would leave this old world and all it's on
I want to leave this world and everything in it behind so that I can go to Heaven.

Just slip away most any day to Heaven's shore
I hope that one day I can slip away, leaving this world behind, and go to Heaven where I can find sweet peace.

I'll find sweet peace beyond the gate forever more
Once I enter the gates of Heaven, I know I will find everlasting peace.

I am certain that one day, thanks to the Lord, I will reach my heavenly home.

When I walk up that great milky way
As I make my way towards Heaven, I imagine walking on the great milky way, shining bright and pure.

Goodbye old world good morning there before the throne
I am ready to say goodbye to this old world and wake up to a new morning in Heaven, standing before the throne of God.

What a singing there will be when I get home
I can only imagine the joyous singing and celebration that will be waiting for me in Heaven.

When I move up there to settle down
Once I arrive in Heaven, I plan to settle down and make it my permanent home.

When I step inside the gate to look around
I look forward to entering the gates of Heaven and exploring all the wonders inside.

I want at least a million years to view the throne
There is so much to see in Heaven, including the throne of God, and I wish for at least a million years to take it all in.

So many friends I want to see when I get home
There are so many loved ones who have already passed on and gone to Heaven, and I hope to see them all when I reach my eternal home.

Oh Lord hear my prayer before I leave
Before I depart from this world, I ask the Lord to hear my prayer and guide me towards a path that leads to Heaven.

May I live so my friends will follow me
I hope that my life can serve as an example for my friends and loved ones, encouraging them to follow me towards Heaven.

The little home you gave to me while here below
While I am still living on earth, I appreciate the little home that God has given me.

I'd love to meet each one of them when life is o'er
When my earthly life is over, I look forward to meeting all of my loved ones who have already gone to Heaven.
