It marks the first new release by New Order for Warner Bros. Records without London Records and was produced by John Leckie, who is notable for his involvement in records such as Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon, Radiohead's The Bends and The Stone Roses' debut album. As with most New Order releases, the artwork is provided by Peter Saville and appears to be a reference to the cover of Kraftwerk's Autobahn.
Reviews for the song have been mixed; Pitchfork Media rated it 3/5, stating "This is a tough call to make, because New Order are often at their best when they're impossibly aloof, but there's a fine line between effortless and tuneless, and "Krafty" isn't the former." When reviewed on the BBC Radio show Roundtable, one reviewer rated it 5/10, another 6/10 and the other 7/10.
"Krafty" was released on 7 March 2005 in the UK and in lieu of B-sides there are a plethora of remixes of the A-side. A US version was released 3 May 2005.
The video, directed by Johan Renck, who also directed the video for "Crystal", appears to be set in Sweden and depicts two teenage lovers. The video shares a similar plot line with the Bran Van 3000 video for "Astounded" and the kent video for "Kärleken väntar".
The track reached #26 in the Republic of Ireland in its week of release, and peaked at #8 in the United Kingdom. In July 2005, it hit #2 on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart.
Upon the release of the Xbox 360, this song along with a few other samples, were written on the hardrives of premium package 360s for use with the integrated music player. It was also included as part of the soundtrack of the game Project Gotham Racing 3.
The song is used in an advertisement by Telenor in Serbia. It was shot in the municipality of Belgrade New Belgrade.
Band comments (2005)
Hooky: “I was working with Hybrid, and wrote this middle bit of a track, and thought, That’s too good to leave there, I’m having that, so I asked them and they said, That’s fine. And it turned into Krafty. And it’s just great.”
Steve: “It started as a jam, a bit like Lonnie Donegan. But then we put electronic noises in there.”

Gotta go to work before it gets too late
Sitting in a car and driving down the road
It ain't the way it has to be
But that's what you do to earn your daily wage
That's the kind of world that we live in today
Isn't where you want to be
[Chorus]
Give me one more day (one more day)
Give me another night (just another night)
I need a second chance (second chance)
This time I'll get it right (This time I'll get it right)
I'll say one last time (one last time)
I've got to let you know (I've got to let you know)
I've got to change your mind (I've got to change your mind)
I'll never let you go (I'll never let you go)
You've got to look at life the way it oughta be
Looking at the stars from underneath the tree
There's a world inside and a world out there
With that tv you just don't care
They've got violence, wars and killing too
All shrunk down in a two-foot tube
But out there the world is a beautiful place
With mountains, lakes and the human race
This is where I want to be
And this is what I want to do
Give me one more day (one more day)
Give me another night (just another night)
I need a second chance (second chance)
This time I'll get it right (This time I'll get it right)
I'll say one last time (one last time)
I've got to let you know (I've got to let you know)
I've got to change your mind (I've got to change your mind)
I'll never let you go (I'll never let you go)
Just give me one more chance (one more chance)
Give me another night (just another night)
With just one more day (one more day)
You know I'll get it right (You know I'll get it right)
I'll say one last time (one last time)
I've got to let you know (I've got to let you know)
If I could change your mind (If I could change your mind)
I'll never let you go (I'll never let you go)
The lyrics to New Order's song "Krafty" convey a sense of longing for something more than the daily 9-5 routine that so many people find themselves in. The first verse describes the monotony of the daily grind, driving to work before sunrise and doing what you have to do to earn a livable wage in the modern world. The chorus is an appeal for a second chance, a do-over, and a chance to break free from the cycle of drudgery and monotony. The singer wants to change his life, to live the way he wants to live, and to be where he wants to be, instead of just going through the motions of life.
The second verse gives a picture of what the ideal life could be, a life where you can lay beneath the stars and drink in the natural world and forget about the ugliness and violence of the modern media landscape. The world is full of beauty and people worth knowing, but it's so easy to forget that when all you do is work and come home and ignore everything else. The chorus, then, is a plea to get this one final opportunity to live life the right way, to break out of the mold and make the most of the time we have.
In summary, "Krafty" is a song about breaking free from mundanity, wanting to live more, and having one more chance to do it right.

@elenatorres-pepito2955
Why is this song not more popular? It is one of New Order's best, in my opinion. I love the lyrics and, as usual, the sound is good as well.
@andrewjensen8128
The music video is also adorable.
@lyrimetacurl0
It is my favourite New Order song (slightly better than True Faith).
