Decadence is a sin that will die
Forth and back my heart you tore
This instrumental life you ignored
Say what you wanted to say
Give me a reason just why I never listen
Take what you wanted from me
Right or wrong you I still adore
The innocence is a mask that you wore
Wrong or right we’ll end this war
This hapless love is inevitable
Say what you wanted to say
Give me a reason just why I never listen
Take what you wanted from me
Because I never thought that maybe I needed something more
And oh this is what you wanted
We’re not thinking along the same lines
This is what you wanted
We're not thinking along the same lines
The same lines
Lines
(Say what you wanted to say)
(White lines)
(White lines)
Say what you wanted to say
Give me a reason just why I never listen
Take what you wanted from me
Because I never thought that maybe I needed something more
Say what you wanted to say
Give me a reason just why I never listen
Take what you wanted from me
Because I never thought that maybe I needed something more
(I never needed anything from you) Something more
Something more yeah (I never needed anything from you)
The lyrics of Newtown Knife Gang's song "Listen" are filled with a sense of betrayal and a lack of communication between two people in love. The repeated phrases of "Say what you wanted to say" and "Give me a reason just why I never listen" are a representation of the frustration and resentment that can arise when one person in a relationship is not fully listening to the other. The lines "Back and forth you still ignore" and "Forth and back my heart you tore" suggest a cycle of miscommunication and heartache. The use of the phrase "instrumental life" implies that their love was perfunctory and lacking in emotion.
The lines "Right or wrong you I still adore / The innocence is a mask that you wore / Wrong or right we’ll end this war / This hapless love is inevitable" suggest that despite the pain and frustration, the love between the two people is still present, albeit complicated. The "innocence" that the other person is wearing is a mask, implying that they are not being honest about their true feelings or intentions.
Overall, the lyrics of "Listen" are a poignant exploration of the complexities and difficulties inherent in intimate relationships.

I love the passion this guy has when he sings... I feel like an idiot when I sing like that but...when someones watching...it makes the difference between just another singer and someone who is truly passionate about music. He gives me goosebumps! Pugs not drugs!

I'm a huge fan of 16stitch. I think my channel speaks for itself. Hoping to see you guys live soon and see if that energy and power are still present in your "new" band. This song is decent. But I hope the rest of the album is slightly darker and heavier. Good job tho.
